I somewhat spontaneously decided to apply to Canadian universities. I know that this is late in the application process, but if I submit my application by the Jan. 15 deadline, will I hear back before May 1? I’m applying to McGill, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, and University of Waterloo as an engineering major. Another question: is it unlikely that I will receive any scholarships since I didn’t apply by the early deadline?
You should look at each website. UBC states the following below. But you might ask - if you give out scholarships in March/April and I may not hear about admission until June, am I eligible?
Anyway, I think your questions have some info / most on the website - but you can ask - because you want to know - I need to commit in the US by May 1st but if I don’t hear from you til mid June, is there a way to speed it up, etc.
And those three schools will be best to answer those questions. That’s why they employ admissions counselors.

IF you do hear from Canadian universities later you can commit to a US university and if you get into a preferred Canadian university after the commitment you can withdraw from the US university (you will lose your deposit,).
This is not an unusual occurance – for example it happens when students get into a preferred college off of a waitlist.
Thank you!!
I’ll do that, thank you!
