<p>My son just got his SAT scores back. He received an 800 on the writing portion and 2320 overall. He wants to go to a top engineering or computer science school in the midwest (something like Purdue, Michigan, Carnegie Melon or Georgia Tech). I feel pretty confident that he won’t score a perfect score on the optional Writing portion of the ACT this Saturday (on the SAT he got a 10 on the essay but aced the questions). If he doesn’t take the ACT writing portion of the test will the type of schools mention above be happy to accept his 800 in SAT writing in evaluating him for academic scholarships?</p>
