Cancelling Federal stafford loan

My freshmen dd got this message from the student financial office today. We have no idea why she received it. I’m hoping one of you parents might have dealt with this before. Thank you!

YOUR LOAN/S HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

The requirements for your Federal Direct Stafford Loan and/or Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan have not been completed. At this time, your loan/s have been cancelled.

If you still want and or need your loan, you must complete your requirements at www.studentloans.gov . Once your requirements are satisified, you must request that the loan be disbursed.

If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

It sounds like your freshman may not have completed the requirements to get the loan disbursed. They have to complete entrance counseling and sign a promissory note, I believe. Was that done? If you have questions, you may just want to contact the Financial Aid Office as suggested. They will be the ones that will know for sure what the issue is.Good luck.

If her FA package offered a loan which she never activated they may be closing the file.
