Essay Overview:
My personal story shows how my diagnosis with cancer, leadership in and outside of school, and service in the community, have all come together to form who I am today.

Additional Information:*
I did not want to be too specific, so I only wrote what I thought was necessary. Everything unspecified here will still be on my application, resume, and recommendations. I am a junior at a public high school, and come from a middle class hispanic family. My mother has graduated with a bba from *Baruch (cuny) and my father did not graduate high school. I was diagnosed with leukemia several years ago and had a bone marrow transplant from my sister. She is now applying to medical school, and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis two years ago. My brother just got his MBA from Rollins (Winter Park, FL). In total, it makes for an incredible life story. I just hope this can make up for the not-so-competitive GPA and test scores. I aspire to be the first of my family in the Ivy League, and I love business and technology. Thank you :)

first, I can copy the list because im on my phone, but let me begin with this - ivies are unpredictable, yada yada yada, so you can never tell.
with that said…
you are going to get into all of the schools you apply to. No contest. The thing id work on more than anything is your essay. I assume you’ll write it about your cancer? Make sure not to make it a sap story- colleges don’t want to read that. Talk instead how it made you who you are and how it has helped develop you as a person.

Write a strong essay about your cancer, and then yes you will have a great chance.

Staryulover,

Thank you very much! I’m making 100% sure I write the strongest essay possible. I just hope my test scores go well for the SAT. I am very thankful for your advice, again.

bobtheboy,

Thank you, I will do just that!

Anybody else have any suggestions? :)

You have the grades and scores, and you have something greatfully different about you, that you survived cancer!

I say you have a pretty good chance, but still Ivies are unpredictable.

theecakee,

Thank you! I don’t know if my test scores will be good enough though…

Those are the only suggestions? :P
