Cancun Itinerary Suggestions

We’re going to Cancun in November. I was there over 25 years ago, so while it won’t be entirely foreign, it’ll seem fairly new.

We are staying for a week at the Villa del Palmar, just north of town. (or at the northern end…)

We plan to do the following day trips:

  • Chichen Itza/Cenote/Lunch trip through Viator
  • Isla Mujeres (sunning and snorkeling)

In terms of value, I think we’ll like the following restaurants:

  • Kaajal (i think it’s in a hotel)
  • La Dolce Vita
  • Mextreme
  • Sen(~)or Frog’s (souvenir t-shirts and music…)
  • The resort has a couple of restaurants we may try out, or sub with your recommendations
  • Culinarily, I want to make sure I eat some chicken mole and cochinita pibil – which I can knock out at Mextreme and Kaajal, respectfully. Other than those must-haves, we enjoy a variety of food.

But aside from the two day trips, which other activities do you recommend in Cancun? We don’t want to spent 4-5 days drinking in the room or frying on the beach. As long as I can snorkel the cenote and Isla Mujeres, that itch will be scratched.

Thanks everyone!

We did one of those a few years ago. (I think we booked it through our resort. But we’ve done other Viator daytrips in Mexico / Puerto Vallerata - worked out nicely.)

We’re going carless on this trip, so it’s nice that they’ll pick us up at the hotel.

Wow - I just counted back and realized it’s been over 30 years since I went to Cancun. Clearly any advice I have is outdated, but I hope you have a great time.
Snorkeling is fun, and I think we did a dolphin encounter kind of thing, but that was from the Riviera Maya on a different trip.
