I want to go to this boarding school - Canterbury, but I’m not able to afford. It’s a little less than 50,000 per year and my family and I can’t afford it. Any suggestions on how I could find money for it? Thanks.
Talk to the school and schedule a meeting with you, your parents and the Financial Aid office there. It may be a combination of loan, and financial aid money, and what your parents can afford.
FA at Canterbury is need based. Your family must submit a FA request, and then the school decides whether they have the desire and the resources to admit you and cover your FA requirement.
If you can’t afford it because your family can afford tuition but will not pay the money, nobody can help you except possibly an eccentric relative or the lottery.
Complete the financial aid application…and make sure you have a strong application packet. If you have a financial need, the site will give you an idea of how much financial aid you can expect to receive, too.
thank you all for the advice!
Don’t delay. Choate had an Icahn Scholars program for kids whose parents can’t afford BS, funded by benefactor Carl Icahn. Lots of these schools have programs that can help families without means using alumni donations. If your family really can’t pay, but you have talent and the zeal knowing this is the right school for you, contact admissions and ask about these programs.
