My DD is applying to Capital and when I run the NPC it shows a $28k scholarship that it lists generically as “merit scholarship”. On their website none of the scholarships listed have an upper amount that high, other than the ones that would be full tuition which are competitive and by invite only, so presumably would not be included in a NPC (plus tuition is $32k, not $28k). Is it possible that it is a mistake (I’ve run our numbers several times)? Or that they combine two amounts from two different scholarships, like partial Presidential and partial Capital Award to arrive at the $28k figure?
It could be a timing issue, the NPC was updated while the general website wasn’t. My daughter’s NPC had the prior year’s figures for a long time, then suddenly jumped to the new amounts (although not the new amount for tuition, as that hadn’t been determined yet)
It may be that the NPC is programed for smaller grants that are typically issued and stacked. For example, my daughter gets two grants, one for visiting the campus prior to acceptance and one for ‘knowing’ and alum, both are which are typically awarded. There are questions on the NPC that ask if you know an alum and if you have visited, and those are added into the merit (non need based) amount on the NPC.
