Capitol Hill Internship = less classes = bad/good?

I intern for the House Majority Leader at Capitol Hill (the only high school student) every week day. I leave just before noon to get to DC. As a result, I’m only take three classes at my high school (AP Biology, AP Lit, Multivariable Calculus) while supplementing my schedule by taking an online Comp Gov & Pol class at the local community college.

Sidenote: I’m very interested in pursuing a career in politics, and my extracurricular activities heavily revolve around the subject. (I indicated in my Yale SCEA application that I will be majoring in Political Science).

Would this hurt/help me?

I think it will help, provided that the grades in the classes you’re taking, and to a lesser extent your test scores, are good. Assuming that they are up to par, what will really tip the balance is the quality of your essays and recommendation letters. There are many competitive candidates applying to Yale from the DC area.
