I can’t recommend Geico based on our experience. After graduating and moving out of state a year ago, my daughter got a policy with Geico. It was the best rate by far using a 30% discount through her employer. They have now increased her rate twice, after 6 months and 1 year. She has not made any claims. The last increase was $70 per month, almost doubling her premium! The rep claimed it was due to increased highway deaths in her state and increased cost of parts.
Just saying, bc this shows the ymmv aspect. Both my girls have Geico, nearly 2 years for one, and no increases. We live in a high rate area. She has her own apt.
Thanks! I went ahead and swtiched to Geico. They were super helpful in making sure my daughter in a different state had a “companion” policy to ours with the needed insurance where she attends college. Rates actually went down vs if she were in our home state, yet her coverage is actually a little better. And my overall rates are saving me over $260 per month. So far Geico has been very helpful with all of my questions and concerns. I am now kicking myself for not switching sooner as we paid (A LOT) for my daughters car to just sit at our house last year while she was at college. Liberty mutual doesn’t have an option to remove students if over 100 miles without a car (Geico does).
I appreciate all of the info above.
