Hi,
I’m going to be a freshman here. While Durham is a pretty self-sufficient city that has restaurants, entertainment, sports, etc., I may want to drive a car to explore nearby cities. I don’t have a car now and I don’t think I’m going to buy a used car. So maybe renting a car is a good option for me. However, when I searched major car rental websites, they all say that no cars are available at Durham. So I want to ask if anyone has any experience of renting a car, how easy it is, how much it usually costs, and whether there is restrictions to people under 20 (I see the checkbox on all rental websites). Any information is welcomed. Thank you.

It looks like this is what you’re looking for:
[Duke Parking and Transportation: Enterprise CarShare](http://parking.duke.edu/alternative_transportation/carshare/index.php)

@flamants, Thank you. But I don’t quite understand how the fee is calculated. It says the overnight fee is $30, hourly fee is $8- $10, and daily fee is $66 - $72. So if I want to rent a car between 8am Sat to 9pm Sun, should I pay two daily fees plus the overnight fee, or anything else?

I have no idea of the specifics, I have my own car on campus so I don’t actually use the rental service. I’d suggest looking into it more when you actually get here, or call up the number on the page if you really have to know right now.

The car sharing service is pretty expensive ($30 base fee and 8 bucks an hour) so you really wouldn’t want to rent one for two days. The service is more for going to the mall to pick something up or going to a restaurant that is a few miles away.
