Hi, This may sound kinda weird but I would love to get replies from UCI students.

My parents have always geared me up for a career in medicine however I have always been fond of the career opportunities within the Law spectrum. Attending UCI would mean that I would have to be on the higher end of my science classes in order to have a chance at a Med-school. With that being said, I am not very science savvy and am usually in the slightly upper half of my AP Bio class. DOES THIS MEAN MY CHANCES AT MED ARE OVER? On the other hand when it comes to history and politics, I am always top 3 in the school in terms of AP test scores. 5 on U.S history and gov and politics. DOES THIS MEAN MY CHANCES AT LAW ARE INCREASED? plzzzz help

i think… if you really aren’t into the med-school route, don’t do it. if you aren’t going to be motivated enough to really care about your classes and do well and everything you shouldn’t waste your time and potentially do poorly in those classes. idk. there’s a lot of people who change out of bio or w/e because they can’t handle the classes or they finally realized they need to do their own thing.
i think if you really want to go into Law then try it. however if you’re torn in the middle maybe just keep a split load of your bio classes and have some pol sci the first quarter to see what happens/what you like?

It doesn’t mean that your chances for med are over. However, if you are into a career in law, then go for it! Your parents shouldn’t determine your own career path. Since you arent “science savvy” then why study for med school? Its not right to go through years of studying something you aren’t into. Take control of your destiny!

Thanks alot guys. one more question. Does getting 5s on AP tests which are somwhat Law related increase your chances of sucess in the poli sci major? thnks
