Career Path(s) for an Engineering Major

Hello,

I’m a senior in HS right now, and I’ll be attending school as an ECE (potentially CS) major. I’ve spent a lot of time throughout high school researching careers for engineers, but for the most part, I’ve only found vague generalizations of what engineers do (industries, types of work, etc). However, I’d like to know some specifics regarding the “typical” career path for an engineering major, more specifically, for an ECE major.

I understand the basic industries/companies that an ECE is likely to find work, but I’d like to know what titles engineers receive, as well as the career ladder they must climb.

Additionally, I’d like to know the role that grad school plays in an engineer’s career path (i.e. MBA vs MS).

I know that some (a lot?) of engineering majors often catch the “banking bug” and wind up on Wall St. or find themselves in an industry entirely different than what they majored in, but for the sake of this discussion, assume that the engineer follows a career path related to his/her major.

Let me know if I need to clarify my question any further.

If anyone has any information/experiences they’d like to share, I’d be very grateful.

Thank you.
