Careers in business?

I am intrested in going into a career in business, however, I have no idea what jobs are in business. The only ones I know are business administration and buisness management. Here are some of the things I enjoy

working together with other people
writing papers, but not constantly like one a week or something
making alot of money :D

Kinda hard to think of other things, but I have a feeling I will enjoy a career in business compared to my other career of choice (pharmacy). Can anyone help me out?

“working together with other people”

investment banking (the implementation part)? consulting (work with clients)?

both give you plenty of monetary benefits.

Sounds like management consulting is your thing.

Take a look at this: http://www.vault.com/nr/occ_profiles.jsp?product_id=1330&p=1&ht_type=11

Or marketing…

Well there are other things I enjoy abou business besides those that I listed. I just can’t really think of them. However, I would like to work for a big company

And when i mean work with people, I PREFER working with the same people, like being in a group or something.

I know this is gonna sound kidna stupid, but how much do investment bankers make?

How many years of school to become an investment banker and how hard are the classes? I have a good amount of info for the other careers you both mentioned but now much about IB

No it’s not a stupid question. Out of undergraduate, these seem to be typical figures:

Consultants can expect between 55k and 80k+ and around 60-70 hour weeks.

You can join an investment banking firm (Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, CSFB, Morgan Stanley etc) with a BA or BS or BBA as an investment banking analyst. The majors of choice seem to be finance or econ.

but how much do investment bankers make?

first 2-3 years, about 100,000 a year including bonus
second 2-3 years, about 200,000 a year inc. bonus
then it increases more as you move up. but it’s tough to move up.

If I decide to become an investment banking associate, do I need to get an MBA for that? If so, should I get it right after my BA or wait a bit.

Can someone please provide me with some more info on this (sorry for all the posts)

ANd how many years of school will it take?

Also, which schools provide the program to becoem an IB? Does UCLA have one?

Fusionice662… you do realize you can make your posts longer instead of just doing several little ones… well unless you’re tryin to make your thread larger or somtin or reach the 100 mark for posts…lol

haha, sorry about that. It’s just that after I post the topics then new questions come to my head.

Is this an accurate description of a day in the life of a IBA? Thats a really long ass day, however I don’t think I would mind. But that would screw up your family though.

If you go into investment banking, are there diffrent positions? Do you choose which position you want or does the company decide for you?
