<p>Dear *******,
Thank you for the opportunity to consider your application for admission with the freshman class entering
in Fall 2012. Our Admission Committee has carefully reviewed your application and supporting credentials
and despite your fine record and accomplishments, we are unable to offer you a place in the School of
Computer Science.
Please do not consider this to be a reflection of your academic ability but rather an indication of the
overwhelmingly large applicant pool and our inability to offer admission to every qualified applicant. We are
disappointed that we could not accept more of the outstanding candidates who have applied to Carnegie
Mellon this year. We hope that you understand the difficulty in selecting such a small number from the
many qualified applicants in this year’s applicant pool.
We appreciate your interest in Carnegie Mellon and the time and effort involved in submitting your
application. If our Office of Admission can be of any further assistance, please feel free to write or call.
Our admission staff will be happy to help you with your college plans. We wish you every success in your
future educational endeavors.</p>
<p>…now I know when I get my decision tomorrow, if it begins with “Thank you…” I might as well stop reading. I REALLY REALLY HOPE IT BEGINS WITH CONGRATULATIONS : ’ (</p>
<p>@codus0320 Same here…I’m the only precollege SCS who hasn’t heard back yet. T.T I hope its not because I got rejected.</p>
<p>Applied to SCS, haven’t heard back. Why do some know and some don’t?</p>
<p>QQ CMU reject right here.</p>
<p>Accepted for SCS :] Are the decisions coming out randomly for some reason? Although I’m in the West Coast, I hear that many in the East have not received their decisions yet…</p>
<p>Accepted for MCS :D</p>
<p>Theres a party! Theres a party!</p>
<p>Accepted to tepper school of business!!!</p>
<p>To everyone who got in, especially those in SCS. See you there!</p>
<p>Congratulations everyone that got in, and anyone that didn’t… don’t sweat it! At least now you actually have a choice as to where you’re going :P</p>
<p>If anyone has any questions about student life/academics/administrative logistics to accept the acceptance, current Tepper student at yer service! :)</p>
<p>(Although I’m also doing Math if that’s what floats your boat)</p>
<p>Susnar- what are you studying in MCS?</p>
<p>Accepted to MCS!!!</p>
<p>Still no decision :(</p>
<p>I am officially deferred… truly the worst day of my life. I kinda wish now that they shouldve just flat out rejected me because now I have to wait 3.5 months with even more anxiety and unrelinquished hope.</p>
<p>@codus0320 did it arrive in the mail or did you check online?</p>
<p>@x101steph8</p>
<p>I plan to major in neuroscience and minor in music.</p>
<p>Rejected…but oh well…i kinda didnt want to go anymore…i was accepted into purdue engineering which seems a little more suitable for me and it also has a good program…so i am happy even though i was rejected</p>
<p>Congrats to those of you who got in. </p>
<p>For those that were rejected, it’s good to remember that the decision isn’t a reflection of your skills, but instead of your fit. I’m sure you’ll go to place where you will be happy. :)</p>
<p>If you feel comfortable, it’d be great if you post your result in the decisions thread: <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/1256422-class-2016-cmu-decisions-thread.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/1256422-class-2016-cmu-decisions-thread.html</a></p>
