*** Carnegie Mellon Class of 2019 RD Discussion and Results Thread***

Never mind I just had to scroll down…I don’t know how I got admitted I’m really not that smart in real life

Does anyone know how difficult it is to switch schools specifically from Dietrich to Tepper?

Out of curiosity, what’s the average size of the priority waitlist from year to year?

Do Carnegie Scholarship offers come with the admission letter? Trying to figure out if there’s still a chance of getting a merit scholarship or if that ship has sailed. No mention of anything like that in financial aid notification that was posted.

My DD just checked her FA, and well, we are stunned and thrilled. Presidential Scholarship 25K, Tartan Grant $801,- who figured that amount out but okay :), and a CM undergrad grant of 8K. Thrilled, can’t believe on Friday I was calling the post office frantic over the FAT package :). Hope others will find out good news as well.

I’ve been given $38k per year.
Still too expensive when the school wants $28k/yr.

It’s funny (well not really), that I now think of 30k or less as ‘reasonable’. All of my daughter’s schools came in around 23-30k- and to me that puts CMU on top- the 7k differential seems worth it- at least for her.

My FA document says its tentative even though I turned in everything through IDOC. Plus the institutional EFC is higher than the one from FAFSA. Does anyone also have this problem??

@heybluebear

Same here.

@upstate13, two years ago when my D did a music audition at CFA, she got a skinny letter in early March saying she passed the requirements for the audition but had to wait until the admissions committee reviewed her application for admission to CMU as a whole.

@collegedadoftwo, my Ds FA package is very good. She is an Andrew Carnegie Scholar which gives her big bucks. These scholarships are awarded as a freshman and roll over from year to year assuming grades are maintained.

@fitforcollege, appeal your FA decision. That’s what we did two years ago with my D and we got a very hefty increase.

@baboom101, my D (sophomore) has a friend who started in Dietrich and transferred to Tepper. It wasn’t easy. They require a certain GPA (obviously) but most importantly, stellar grades in the required classes. Need to interview and such but he was successful in doing it.

@annwank How do you appeal? Other than uncovering clerical errors, how were you able to get a hefty increase?

Is it weird that I got accepted through the portal but still haven’t received my FAT letter? I’m so paranoid that my acceptance is an error

@benchmark236. I will PM you. There is an appeal form included in the FA award.

Thanks.

I did not apply for any financial aid and took a spot on the priority waitlist for CIT. What are my chances of eventually being accepted?

@mtjade my son got accepted and still waiting for fat letter
