Carnegie Mellon Class of 2028 Official Thread

If you look at the thread, people vent their rejections and waitlist. I don’t think we have seen anyone actually posted their rejections/waitlists. It’s been all “my friends got rejection” or someone on reddit said they got rejection.

I’m on another website where parents are posting their results. On Friday, actual results parents posted was 100% acceptance or no updates.

Did anyone get acceptance today ?

i have seen a LOT of rejections. Not just from friends (although my best friend opened his rejection right in front of me) but people on the A2C discord have consistently posted rejections.

something still looks off though. even in the a2c discord, the poll is heavily for acceptance which doesn’t match up with 11% acceptance rate.

is your friend happen to be an international?

A2C is not a representative sample of all CMU applicants.

you would need a simple random sample to conclude that!

And then you’d need to conduct a hypothesis test to conclude if the acceptance rate really is 11%!

Would you mind sharing the site where people have been accepted? Thanks!

it seems like couple of rejections seems to be international. I wouldn’t be surprised if the first wave was international and accepted students.

I’m on a parent forum (mainly asian american parents). As best as I can tell, there is 0 waitlist and 0 rejection across 50+ postings.

For what major?

My friends daughter received rejection yesterday for CS

Many people don’t post about their rejections for many reasons…

I agree with you but to say people are not posting rejections just for CMU is also a stretch. You have to make an educated guess based on replies in CC and Discord. CMU release seems to be handled differently than other rolling release like UCSC for example.

The size of the sampling set from these social media sites is simply not big enough to make an accurate estimate. I’m not a fan of CMU’s new decision release strategy, which is deemed lack of empathy if it does arguably provide visibility to us. We’re still waiting for our decision here.

Yeah I have to agree with this - and I say that as someone with a decision. I’m happy that I know the outcome for my 2 kids, but in general I think CMU would be better off announcing everyone at once at whatever later date.

Am wondering if any acceptances so far were test optional?

Yes, for Vocal Performance. Best wishes as you await your notification! :crossed_fingers:

Edited to add: Also for BFA Acting (per GS’s friend).

Theatre Design and Production. I do know calls were going out for MT as early as Wednesday. Although I can’t tell you if those are for undergraduate or grad programs.
