It came about about a minute or two ago, so you might not have seen it yet.
Just got it.
I didnât get it⊠should I be supremely concerned
So if you applied for the BFA and get in you will get a phone call on Friday 15th, and if not, you should expect a decline/waitlist email on Saturday 16th?
Nope. Email is a bit funky sometimes.
I donât think so - I think it would have been sent to everyone. Maybe check your spam and personal email (so not in the portal).
Received the same email.Waiting for Friday.
didnât get it. Is it because the decision is rolling out starting on Friday or I am pretty much done? or they rollout rejection in the first batch?
Thanks
Thatâs an interesting question. Based on prior years, one might think that to be the case. However, their announcement for this year states that decisions will begin to be issued on 3/15 - implying that they may be rolled out over multiple days as opposed to all acceptances on 1 day and all rejections the following day. Weâll just have to wait and see - and remain positive if a call is not received on 3/15.
Good luck!
I donât think I would assume that not receiving the email equates to a rejection. Could be any number of reasons why you donât yet have the email. And, historically, they announced acceptances before rejections. So please stay positive and hope for good news as they roll out their decisions.
Thatâs the email we got at 2:30pm EST
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider your Fall 2024 Regular Decision application to Carnegie Mellon University.
Admission decisions will begin releasing Friday, March 15. [Check out this fun video] our current students helped prepare for the announcement. Youâll be able to view your decision letter on your Where Am I in the Process? portal when it becomes available.
Yes. I really liked that video, and am so glad that they enlisted current students (presumably from the School of Drama?) to feature in the video!
Does anyone have the option to withdraw their application? I donât
Withdraw button gone here too.
Does the last paragraph in the email read like this?
Weâve enjoyed getting to know you through your application and wish you success in your future college career. If you have any questions, please feel free to email, call, or chat with us.

hmmm⊠rejection tone?
Yes, it does sound like a rejection. I have the same.
~85-90% of students will be rejected, so it makes sense that if they are sending a generic email to all they will use a rejection tone.
I already marked CMU as ârejectedâ in my decisions spreadsheet, definitely not having high hopes
Hopefully, the email was sent to everyone so any ârejection toneâ wonât mean anything. Shortly before University of Florida and Florida State University sent out their decisions, they sent an email out to everyone about comforting you kid (sorry - I canât remember exactly, but it was the type of email that made everyone who received it think that their kid got rejected). However, those emails were sent out to everyone.
If they already rejected you⊠they donât really want you to call with questions. Imagine how many calls and questions!
