Where is the student financial aid portal ? How do you login ?
I donât know how to log in because my son doesnât have access to the student aid portal. The full message is on right hand side of his main portal says âLooking for your My Student Aid Portal? Stay tuned, more information will be available soon.â
Just trying to gauge whether anyone actually has access to the student aid portal (inspired as usual by a Reddit comment lol). If you check your portal, would you mind reporting back?
We have the same message.
What was the comment in reddit?
Itâs in the CMU RD Megathread. Student says they think they are screwed because they never received access to financial aid portal. Sounds like everyoneâs in that boat and it is probably a total nonissue. Although I am curious about my second question whether anyoneâs been asked for supporting financial documents (we have not).
We never received any emails asking for financial information; and we never even looked at the financial aid portal. I only noticed it now when you mentioned the comment.
Grandson received his acceptance call a couple of days ago (students accepted to majors requiring auditions and portfolio assessments are on a different schedule and are notified via phone call); nobody has access, yet, to financial aid info. Hang in there, everyone, and good luck to those awaiting a decision!
They give a call for acceptances?
would you say that if a student applying for a portfolio-based major doesnât receive a call, then theyâre automatically not accepted (waitlisted/rejected)?
No, I wouldnât say that is automatically the outcome. Sometimes, there is only one person tasked with making all of the calls and it may take more that a day or two to reach everyone on the list. And sometimes an email or portal update happens before reaching all of the students with a phone call. So, Iâll join you in hoping that you receive a welcomed result, whether by phone, email, or portal update in the coming days!
Yes, for certain majors in the College of Fine Arts, for example. Many (all?) of the students in these programs need to submit their applications at the same time as ED, because of the time and logistics involved with auditions, portfolio reviews, interviews, etc. They generally also need to submit the university application as well as an artistic application. Some programs also require submission of performance videos that are used for prescreening, after which some are invited to schedule in-person auditions/reviews. And then they wait until around the time that RD students are receiving their decisions to learn whether theyâve been awarded a seat in a very small cohort of freshman in their major. The acceptance rate for some of the majors is very low; Musical Theater, for example, generally accepts 12 students (6 males, 6 females) out of an applicant pool that historically ranges from 1,000-2,000 students. Itâs a pretty grueling process for these students, so the phone call is a really nice touch.
My D24 applied for B.Arch., which also requires portfolio submission followed by a strongly recommended portfolio interview. Thereâs no ED2 for B.Arch., but we donât know whether they make calls to accepted students or not (they admit around 60 people each year).
Iâm not sure whether there will be calls this year for the B. Arch. majors as there are for the BFA programs. However your DD is notified, Iâll be thinking good thoughts for her. Itâs a great program and a wonderful field in which to work and study.
I wonder if for those receiving a call, it is only for the arts majors where the admitted class is very small (like MT).
Does anyone know what time the decisions will release today?
According to people on Reddit who spoke to CMU Live chat theyâll release all decisions at 5 pm EST
All results?
Yes, all of them.
