[Carnegie Mellon] Pre-college summer program for Computational Biology

Hi,

I have a Junior who applied for some pre-college summer programs. He got into Carnegie Mellon Pre-college program specifically computational biology program.
Is this program worth it for a price tag of about $10 K - $12 K for 3 weeks? I am including a ballpark figure that includes all expenses.
If anyone had previous experience with this program; can you please share the pros and cons.

Appreciate the help and thanks in advance.

Hello,

Did your kid attend the program last summer? How did he/she like it? My son is accepted for this year and considering whether it is a good program. Thanks!

Does your child want to attend CMU one day, then perhaps it’s good for he/she to experience the campus and program.

My S19 attended the summer music program only for fun. We are local. He did get into CMU but we were not willing to pay full ticket price.

FYI CMU raised their tuition this week, total cost a year is $82,650. They give no merit but they do offer financial aid if you qualify.

did your kid attend the program? I’m wondering the same for this summer. TY!

Yes. He definitely learned a lot but also said the program was vigorous. He spent a lot of time working on the project and assignment.
