Carnegie Mellon Transfer Info

I am currently a rising sophomore at the University of Mississippi. I have a 3.92 GPA; I made one B freshman year in Calculus II after being in the hospital for two weeks. I am a philosophy/mathematics double major. I have taken Calculus III and IV this summer, making an ‘A’ in both. In the fall, I am taking 18 hours consisting of Discrete Mathematics, Foundations of Mathematics, Symbolic Logic, Ethics, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. I will probably be studying a foreign language during that time through the university’s independent study program. On the extracurricular side of things, I am a competing member of the Ole Miss fencing club, I work as a reporter for the school newspaper, I am working to revive the literacy council in the fall, and am in the process of incorporating a non-profit organization designed to increase civic participation among college students. I was accepted into the honors college junior entry program a year early. In high school, I made a measly 31 on my ACT and had lackluster grades, but had a lot of community involvement. I can procure excellent professor recommendations. Unfortunately, I have a criminal record. I pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. On to my question, do I stand a chance as a transfer applicant to Carnegie Mellon? I am interested in the Logic and Computation Major they offer, with Cognitive Science as a possible double major. My criminal record is set to be expunged in a year. If I am accepted, does Carnegie Mellon offer financial aid to transfers? I am on full scholarship at Ole Miss. Here at Ole Miss, I am also working with the Office of National Scholarship Advisement to tailor Rhodes, Marshall, and Gates Cambridge applications my senior year. My criminal record won’t matter then: it will be expunged. If I transfer, will my chances at national scholarships be hurt? Also, will my opportunities to work with professors be hindered by the lack of familiarity with the faculty if I transfer? My main reason for applying to transfer is the alignment of the programs at Carnegie Mellon with my research interests. At Ole Miss, we offer very few logic classes, yet I am almost certain that this is the field I wish to pursue. Thank you for your insights.
