Congrats to everyone who got off the wait list! Good luck to everyone at college!
I’m sure the class of 2025 will be frantically looking at this thread around this time next year XD
no need to be dismayed. I am speaking as a parent who have raised two kids and also lived a life. College is by no means a determining factor of how far you can reach in life, regardless of whether you goal is to do more good to the mankind or to make more money.
Your effort to cultivate yourself will be rewarded at some point in life. The value of high test scores and grades isd diminishing for the coming years as the world will evaluate you more on your character, motivation and of course some skills. You definitely can go far in life and much further than current peers who are admitted to a more “prestigious” schools if you refuse to be complacent. I have seen plenty of MIT graduates that didn’t go that far. Bittnerness is not your friend.
CMU has a graduation rate of 75% which is alarming. As a matter of fact, one kid from a close family friends dropped out from computation biology this past year.
Same here bro. Some of my friends with lower grades got into better schools than me. I really liked CMU and maybe I’ll try next year. UCL is not a bad school just work hard in ur first year and transfer to the states. I’m going to Rice and I’ll try to transfer as well!
And plus CMU didn’t pull any international student so if they did u might be on there!’
Good luck to you!
Very well sad! Thanks !
Someone I know got off the waitlist for economics in Dietrich. International student (Indian) btw.
Are there any Chinese students?
I am!!!
When did you get it?
I didn’t get off the waitlist. I got the email last night, which says “thank u for considering CMU”.
So do We, Do you have to wait any longer?
I didn’t remove myself from the wl, not hoping for anything tho
@Cartierboys Thanks man. Rice is not bad AT ALL. You should feel good about yourself. The thing with me is that I really wanted to study in the US (the general atmosphere there is a whole different thing than where I live now). Just asking, are you allowed to transfer from a UK university to the US?
Good luck bro. Stay safe.
I hate to bring the bad news here, but I called the admission office this morning and was told they are done with all the waitlist decisions. So anyone who has not received an admission notice by now should consider themselves not admitted. My son was not admitted, disappointingly.
@Bettyz2020 Yes, however, if space does open again due to enrolled student’s deciding to take a gap year or unenroll, then they will start taking off the waitlist again. But yeah, we shouldn’t expect anything from them unless if the ivies or other great private schools start taking people from the waitlist, which has barely been done, especially for engineering and compsci.
@onmanywaitlists Yes, that is true.
My son was applying for Dietrich as a Statistics major. I remember from seeing prior posts on this thread that they took very few candidates off the WL for Dietrich. Not sure about the reason…anyway, we are done with the stress speculating. My son is still on the WL of a few other schools, but I think he will focus on the school he is committed to. Good luck to everyone here! I am sure all of you will land on a school that you love and best suits you!

I’m sure he has some good options. Where else did he apply?
@Yankeefan20 Actually this morning he just got off the WL of UCLA. He is pretty happy about that. He is still on the WL of UC Berkeley, UMichigan, and Wake Forest…

yes absolutely. u need to apply its just like applying on common app as a high school senior.
Current CMU Tepper/Stat student walking by…
I’ll be taking a gap year, which would open up one space if there is any.
Hope this helps future Tepper ppl!
Why I didn’t receive any emails notifying me of the admission decision? Even if it is just a rejection, I need an email. Firstly, on my waitlist letter, they said they will notify students of the priority waitlist decision by May 8th, and I didn’t receive any. And the June 1st is coming, I still didn’t get any. I began to wonder if there are any problems with my email address !!
