It seems like you guys would know a lot about this since we all spend so much time on this site.
I have been having a lot of pain in my hands/wrists from spending so much time spending time on the computer. This has been going on for a few weeks now and is mainly in my thumb joints and wrists. Do any of you have experience with this?

yes I was fortunate. I ran to a sports medicine dr who evaluated my wrists. At first I had to wear braces on hands all day, including sleep. Now it is just preventive-wear them only when I type. I have the ones that thumb goes through and has a metal base inside. The soft ones without the metal do not work. It has helped others, the type that are rubbery and flexible don’t help me (or anyone I know). I don’t usually use them at home, unless I am typing for > an hour. I caught it in time.

I had it for years and wore wrist braces to keep it under control. But what really cured it was switching from a desk top to a laptop computer. The laptop keyboard didn’t cause the same problems for me.

I’ve had various issues over the years. I got “tennis elbow” which I re-named “mouse elbow”; and I’ve also had carpal tunnel, although instead of hurting my arm went numb. I have to be very careful with the ergonomic set up of my desk/computer/mouse.

My mother ( a secretary in the old days w/ non-electric typewriters) had carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists. They were often numb. I remember her dropping things because she couldn’t feel her hands. She eventually had surgery on both wrists.
