Another recent alumnus is making waves in the music world. David Carpenter graduated from Princeton last year and is a rising star on the classical music scene. While still an undergraduate he had his Carnegie Hall debut and is soon to release his first album.

“In the music world, the viola is seen as a second-class citizen. Falling short in the diversity and volume of available repertoire, the viola is frequently superseded in public perception by its more famous cousin, the violin.

At age 22, however, David Carpenter ’08 says he is trying to change that. With his debut album set to be officially released in September, violist Carpenter is adding to his already extensive resume, to become what Princeton University Orchestra (PUO) director Michael Pratt calls a “dominating figure” in the musical world.” (continued)
