Carpet Cleaning

What kind of professional carpet cleaners do you hire? The man who cleans my carpet uses a truck mount hot water extraction method. I have been extremely happy with his work, but I always wonder if this is really the best method. I have my carpets cleaned once a year as we have light beige carpets with animals!

I was just reading about a local company that uses a carbonating extraction process that uses less water and a quicker dry time. On paper this sounds interesting, but I don’t know.

So if you use a profession for your carpet cleaning, what method do they use?

We use Stanley Steamer (just did last week). We tried using one of the cheaper outfits but that was a mistake - we just ended up with a wet and not much cleaner carpet. We’ve used Stanley many times and the guys who come are always very professional and their equipment works very well.

I use one of these…

[Vacuum Cleaners, Vacuum](http://www.bissell.com/Products/c/UprightDeepCleaner/p/quicksteamerpowerbrush/product.aspx)

…all the companies that I checked out use a van which has some big old washer thingy in it and I just did not want my pet cats subjected to that

I do not own a house or anything, but I really think that I have made it out alright with regards to cleaning my carpets myself.

We have a central vacuum which does IMO a superior job on normal vacuuming and also have a carpet shampoo/cleaner appliance but it doesn’t do nearly the job the Stanley Steamer setup does.

Big green clean machine by Bisell. I have saved thousnads over the years. And the smell afterwoods is fresh unlike some companies.

I have used both types of carpet cleaning, and to be honest, I prefer the truck mounted hot water extraction. If it is really humid & you don’t have air, though, I’d used the carbonated method. Gosh, I hate paying for carpet cleaning … but my Little Green Machine just won’t do the whole house without killing my back!

That reminds me … the couch needs cleaning … it’s off white & needs to be dry cleaned … what was I thinking?

Do you all use the truck mounted hot water extraction cleaner guys for your area rugs? We’ve got two area rugs we moved from our Oakland house that are now in our garage since they really needed to get cleaned & I couldn’t bring myself to move them into the new house until they were cleaned.
