I shopped for new carpeting this weekend and found that Smartstrand is the new technology. I need a carpet that will wear well and clean easily. I’m aware that all carpet shows stains eventually, but I’d like to get a few years with it looking good. Reading reviews on line, a few people complained that it was difficult to vacuum because it is dense.
I’m just wondering if anyone has it and what the experience has been.
My neighbor has had it for about 20 months, I have been watching them with their 4 cats and large dog, to see if cat barf really and truly does not stain, thus far they are quite happy with it & are planning to have it cleaned shortly, I am awaiting that report, too, before making the investment
My friend just reported, they had the carpet cleaned two weeks ago, no re-appearing spots on the heavy wear of the carpeted stairs. They are very happy with the smart strand. I made the plan when she got the expensive stuff to just watch and wait, so tired of cat barf stains!
Aside: We used solution dyed short level loop nylon carpet in our family room. It has had a very good life. Nearly 20 years old and still look good! (children and pets)
Mohawk dealer here. After installing thousands of yards of smart strand I can tell you there have been no complaints about staining. It is even resistant to bleach stains. There are also lots of styles, from long and shaggy frieze to tight plush. Price wise however, Smart strand buyers pay a bit of a premium.
I have had many customers who were so happy with there first smart strand product they refused any other option upon their return. The highest brand loyalty I’ve ever seen.
Things like solution dyed nylon will do very well resisting stains, but the colors often lack vibrance and variety. Filament P.E.T. products are pretty and have great value, but aren’t quite as bullet proof or resilient (ounce per ounce). Smart strand has it all, great color, variety of styles, and incredible stain performance.
