Carvana

Has anyone bought a car from them? It looks like their p[rice is fixed and you buy a car unseen. I am in the market for a car and I am thinking to buy a used vehicle this time. It all sounds intriguing but I have never bought a car this way.

Basically, how well do you trust their inspection of the vehicle such that you will not get one with hidden defects caused by previous (ab)use?

There is a 7-day return-money-back policy, so you could choose to pay a mechanic of your choosing (perhaps one specializing in that kind of car) to inspect the car again during that time period.

@ucbalumnus That’s why I am somewhat apprehensive.

We sold a car to them, my mother’s Toyota right before she died. It was two years old with 3,000 miles. They gave me $1,500 more than the dealer offered. A guy took an Uber to our house and picked it up, and the money was deposited into her checking account the next day. It was the easiest car transaction I’ve ever experienced. Someone got a really nice car. I know two people who have bought cars from them and have been pleased. I would buy from Carvana in a minute.

Yes, it looks very easy. Not any different from ordering stuff on line.

We were recently looking for a car for our D, and Carvana was a consideration. I like their 7-day money-back no questions asked, guarantee. FYI Carmax has a 72hr money-back and many dealerships will allow an outside inspection before purchase. We sent two cars, at $15/ea to Firestone for an inspection, both failed.

We ultimately bought a CPO straight from the dealer.

@momo2x2018 Does Firestone do a car inspection?

@Iglooo Yes. They have two types of inspection a) a free courtesy inspection that checks general wear and tear, and b) a complete vehicle inspection that checks almost everything for a few $ (cost varies by location) The total $30 we spent on having two used cars inspected before purchase, saved thousand’s of $ in work that was needed, and a lot of headaches.

I’m fascinated by their display towers! Haven’t bought from them, though.
