I only looked at my letter/financial aid and then logged off my account. Now, due to the server being loaded with people, I can’t log on again. I want to see if I got into the honors program for CAS and was wondering where exactly on my account it would say that I got into it (so I know where to look). Thanks :)

Also, post here if you got into CAS honors!

There is no mention of CAS honors in my admission decision. Hopefully this does not mean I didn’t get it…1570/1600, 2270/2400 SAT, top 5%, 3.98 GPA, hardest workload possible…I would be really bummed if I didn’t get honors :(

Anyone find out about honors, and if so, how (email, applicant portal, etc.)?

you should see a link to honors college welcome on the right
there will be a decisions link
then i also have merit award link financial assistance link dean’s welcome link and honors college welcome link
if you don’t have any of those that means you probably didn’t get a scholarship or honors college

Guess that means I didn’t get into CAS Honors. Oh well.

I got a merit award. This is not the same as CAS honors, though?

no
there are various merit awards like trustee scholarship or mlk but you apply for them seperately
to apply for the honors college you had to put an HC in the office only box and i believe that was it…i think they only wanted extra essays for the trustee scholarship…
honors college is just special courses…you don’t get any money from it

Lemonio, does this mean if you’re a recipient of one of those scholarships (like the MLK/Bell etc), then you can’t be in CAS honors? Because when I applied for those scholarships, I had to mark the office-only box, leaving no room to apply for the Honors college. hmmm…

I did not actually mark the Honors college in my application because I didn’t know about it. Luckily, they put me in there anyway. I applied for some big merit scholarships and got one, though, so this might be why they put me in it. But anyway, you didn’t have to mark it down to get in.

I don’t understand why I wasn’t put in the honors college then. I got a pretty big merit scholarship (National Merit) like prismatic, and I’m pretty sure I marked Honors college in my application…

D was put in the Honors College with a University Scholarship (applied for Trustee) but did not mark the HC on the application as she didn’t know what it was at the time.

Does anyone know how the newly organized University Honors College, which in part replaces the U. Professors Program, relates to the Honors program in CAS? Does the latter even exist anymore?

colleges3, i got both trustee and honors college so you can definetly get both
if you didn’t have enough space in your office only boxes…i don’t know what to say lol…

Oh…I meant the University’s Honor College in general as well. And I didn’t know about the office only part…I never read that. Do you think it is still possible for me to be considered for it and/or can you just transfer into once you’re at BU?

bump…I want to know whether or not to contact them tomorrow. The University’s Honors College seems to be pretty nifty - the courses are just flat out awesome and the housing for it is somewhat like honors housing at Pitt which is definitely a plus - and, while it probably isn’t going to be a deciding factor for me, it’d definitely be a plus.

^I would also like to know if it is still possible to be considered. I was under the impression that we were automatically considered. I had no idea we had to put “HC” in the office only section. This is probably going to play a significant role in my decision, so I would really appreciate if anyone has more information.

I would definitely give them a call. It is true that they said to put “HC” in the office only box if you wanted to be considered. I would just call and tell them you weren’t aware that that was necessary, and if they are still considering students for the Honors College. Good luck!

I think it says on the website if you look carefully that they don’t admit after freshman year?

Hey,
I got into the honors program and I am pretty sure there was no check box on Common App about showing interest for Honors…
They accepted automatically and no action on your part was needed.

When I applied, I just put in EN and Tr on my common app for the office use only (for trustee + Bell) and I did not put any HR (Just checked my common app again)

Calling them won’t hurt I guess, but there was definitely no box for interest in the honors program from what I understand.

I called yesterday. They took 50 kids for it, and currently no more room. They may open it up after May 1st depending upon how many accept.
