85 UW (very challenging curriculum)
1440 SAT
730Chem, 770Math2c, 800Writing

My EC’s are pretty good, I think.

 1. I intern for a doctor 4 times a week. In addition to doing the work required, I track the progression of Hepatitus C in his patients and what medications theyre on. He’s helping me with my personal research.
 2. Volunteer at a soup kitchen and at a hospital. 500+ hours
 3. Teach a class on jewish traditions at a yeshiva nearby as part of an afterschool program for jewish children whose parents can’t afford to send to yeshiva
 4. president of jewish club
 5. belly dancing club
 6. took a sociology course at Hunter College - 4.0
 7. involved in math research with a professor from Cooper Union, nothing worth publishing yet.
 8. a couple more things (don’t want to turn this into a laundry list)

What are my chances???

Actually my average is an 86.33 UW.

Your GPA is low, even for a tough curriculum, but your SATs, SAT IIs, and extracurriculars are very good. I would say you definitely have a chance.

bad chance or decent chance? in other words, is it worth applying to or is more of a waste of $65?

Decent chance, your test scores may put you over the top, especially if your essay is a knockout. I would definitely apply.

Casablanca,

I think you are a competitive applicant notwithstanding the gpa. So applying is certainly not a waste of $65 because you have a real shot.

Good luck.

-NYU class of '00

No prob.

Good luck.
