Case Western 2023 RD

Wait-list. But not at all cared.

waitlisted! Congrats to all accepted. It is interesting so far it is either in or waitlist and no rejections posted here.

Does anyone know whether the Performing Arts scholarships and/or the arts achievement scholarships were included with the financial aid awards today?

D is waitlisted. SAT 1530, ACT 35, NMF. Kind of surprised, since she did get accepted into a couple of comparable schools, but oh well!

Rejected after EA deferral. Bad week. Feels horrible. Trying to stay positive, but so far no acceptances to any of my TEN top choices. Don’t know where I went wrong. Well, congrats to those admitted.

@UMDreamer hang in there, it will work out!!!

S waitlisted. 1520 SAT, 3.8 UW, 4.3 W, eagle scout. I thought he would be accepted after he was deferred, since he got all A’s 7th semester, which included AP Physics C and AP Calc BC.
Seems crazy to me, what are colleges looking for?

Thank you @ibf for your kind words. I believe everything happens for a reason, in spite of ones desires. I just need to stay positive and be happy with my current acceptances.

Son denied. My friend’s son is waitlisted after being deferred from EA. Both are majoring in Computer Science. Looks like not too many STEM applicants got accepted RD. Congrats to all who were accepted and good luck for all waiting for other decisions to come.

S was waitlisted. 1470 SATs, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.3 W, some unusual ECs, Civil Engineering. He’s not too upset, but I was surprised, since he’s gotten into some comparable schools and I thought Case might be a good fit for him. Must have been a fierce applicant pool this year. Oh well, congratulations to those who got in and good luck to those waiting on other schools.

@howdo5 your son sounds like a very hard worker — congrats on a great kid! He may have been waitlisted because his extracurriculars reflected a different personality than what CWRU typically sees in its students. It doesn’t mean your son isn’t excellent. Have you thought about sending an LOCI? Sometimes demonstrated interest can be the push the AdCom needed to accept a student off of the waitlist. Best of luck to your son in future endeavors!

I’m really happy that I got in; I was deferred early action. I’m unfortunately not planning on attending due to the cost even after the scholarship, and I want to decline as soon as possible to give people on the waitlist a chance of getting off  Congrats to everyone!

Those who were waitlisted: Read this:

Excepting last year (where more students enrolled than they thought would), Case has historically accepted many off the WL. They guarantee housing so they want to make sure they have housing for everyone. If you do get admitted off the waitlist, you are eligible for the same merit $ you would if you were admitted during RD/EA/ED.

@BabaO It is good to include stats so when next year someone asks “what are my chances” we can point to this thread and they can see the stats of students who were/weren’t admitted (alot are the same!)

I am suspecting one of the reasons for my D getting to wait list is because of PPSP Medicine program (guaranteed BS/MD program). Approximately 2500 applied (including my D) for that program for 10 seats. Many of those might have kept themselves in RD pool after getting NO for interview of PPSP, to check it if Case give full scholarship.

Many of those accepted will not attend even if Case provides 15-25K scholarship. Hence there is a big waitlist and more than 1/3 class coming from waitlist last year. This is very strange for high ranked school like Case.

@DSOF20192023 Actually no students were taken off the WL last year (which was a surprise to Case that so many students enrolled over historical averages). Some who normally would have been accepted off waitlist last year were given the choice to take a gap year and were guaranteed admittance for the next year.
