Case Western Medical School Scholarship / Financial aids

Hi,
would anyone know how difficult to receive the Scholarship aids/ Financial Aids from case western medical school ?
Financial Aids for Medical School : Are they need-based just like the undergrad. & are they
more difficult to get when compare to Undergrad ?

I think CW is one of the most expensive medical school (around $54000/yr tuition), In my opinion, it is not worth if you have to pay the full tuition for 4 years when compare to other higher ranking but less expensive medial school ?

tks

standard financial aid at case western. they do give out merit scholarships, but you have to be invited to apply for them. I was sent the application to apply for it, but didnt since I knew after my interview day that the school wasnt for me, so I dont know how hard it is to get one.

All the top ranking schools are just as expensive, except for the public schools.

^And the publics can be just as expensive if you’re OOS as relatively few med schools will permit you to establish IS residency for tuition if you are not IS when you apply.

tks*

??? Which med schools are those?

I means such as Harvard, U Penn, Washington U, stanford, JH, USF… All these top Medical school has lower tuition when compared to Case Western.

trapezius,
What do you think about the Case Western Medical School rating ?
What is your opinion with other medical schools who are on the same tier as the CW ?

tks

Harvard and the other SOMs have tuitions in the $50k range, so the difference of a few thou isn’t an issue. All are going to cost you about $75k per year with room, board, books, etc. The end price for four years is going to be about $300k. Questioning a few thousand here or there is peanuts in the discussion of price.

Yea, what m2c said. Even if Harvard was cheaper than Case by a few thousand, cost of living makes up for that difference. In the end, the difference is negligible.

Case is a top 25 school, so obviously its a good school. I didnt like the pbl curriculum, but that is a personal preference issue. Their hospital system is fantastic and great research opportunities.
I would say Case has the same reputation as Emory, UTSW, Baylor, UVA, Mount Sinai

OP,
From looking at your posting history, are you a HS sr who’s been accepted to Case’s PPSP and is deciding between that and regular UG colleges? If so, it might be helpful to offer more information about your full situation.

I’m a junior. I know PPSP cause one of my good friend is currently in this program (she’s in law but Im more interested on the Medical). I think my GPA AND SAT (3.9 & 2320) may have a chance if apply next year. That’s why I have the above questions when I start my college application next year.

tks.

I would suggest applying first, before worrying about the finances of the medical school. That is 5 years down the line for you. And to put it bluntly, there are no guarantees in the BS/MD application process - While your GPA & SAT are solid, there are several other factors that determine if one even is granted an interview, let alone admission to Case Western PPSP. If you wish to pursue of the BS/MD programs, I suggest applying broadly as they are all very competitive. Test scores only get one so far… From my experience, the interview plays a huge role in the selection process.

As the other posters said, private medical schools are very expensive. Most students end up taking loans as merit scholarships are very few and are only given to the best of the best.
