I am OOS for both, so I will be paying OOS tuition for UT Dallas. UTD would be around 20K cheaper, but I am curious what you guys think of these 2 given the prices. I’m not too eager to pay OOS tuition, but I hear UTD is very reputable for CS, so does that offset the fact that it is a public school? Which school is better for CS?
As a computer professional myself, I can say you really don’t need either one. If there are good in-state options, you’re probably better off because you would be starting off a career with less debt. If you needed to choose between the two, UTD is a less expensive school right in the heart of Dallas where there are numerous internship opportunities and good job prospects.
UTD is a big commuter school not even in dallas county (its in richardson). Would say from my perspective case is 10 times a better school. But I agree go to your state flagship and you will be in a fine program.
Of course UTD
UTD is an excellent school with a great reputation and excellent STEM opportunities. So is Case, but not enough to justify the price difference. UTD also has great food and nice dorms where everyone gets their own bedroom that locks with a key card. You’ll have roomies sharing your suite, but your bedroom is just you. You also get your own sink in the bathroom, and each suite has a small living room / study area separate from the bedrooms.
Go to UTD.
Be careful with going OOS to a commuter school…will other students be there on the weekend?
