Casey Anthony?

By the way, how many accidental drownings have you heard of with children where it was covered up to appear to be a homicide? Accidental drownings are tragic but rarely is any adult who is involved blamed for it and charged with murder. I think most people who have witnessed an accidental drowning, report the drowning and call 911. They are not worried about being charged with murder for it.

The kind of accidental death that I think someone would NOT report is a scenario if Casey drugged the child in order to go out and leave her alone and the child accidentally died of an overdose. She would not want to report that as she would be guilty of wrongdoing. That is not the same as an accidental drowning, where a parent looks away and a child drowns.

Yes. I’m sure you are right. I’m sure the jury will see it your way.

poetgrl, I have no clue how the jury will see it. I was just offering my opinion and also why it was hard for me to see it the way you suggested and I had these questions I would then raise if I were to look at the situations you had suggested.

No. I know.

Personally, I really don’t think Casey Anthony did WHATEVER she did alone. The father is the only one in the whole group who seems capable of doing anything without assistance, in my opinion.

The whole situation is a mess. One thing is for sure: Casey Anthony was a very messed up person before any of this. I posit the entire family was a mess from wayyyy back. JMO.

I’m sure the jury will convict her but not give her the death penalty. That’s my guess.

Anyone surprised that she is officially not testifying?

I didn’t figure she would testify. She would probably incriminate herself with contradictory lies within seconds.

I think (though it is not like I am on the jury and heard all the testimony) that the right thing would be to convict her of a certain charge (I am not so familiar with the various murder or manslaughter definitions) and not get the death penalty. I don’t think she should get the death penalty (both because I don’t believe in it in the first place and also while she may be guilty of the death in some capacity, it is hard to prove it was negligence/abuse or if she intended to murder her and so on). I do think she deserves a sentence of some kind. I believe she was involved in her daughter’s death in some capacity.

I’m leaning more toward murder than an accident because she also looked up neck breaking, whereas if she only looked up chloroform, she could have meant to knock the child out only and the child died. Also, I think if it were an accidental death, she would be so stressed out afterward that she could not have gone out that night with her boyfriend, whereas if it was a premeditated murder, she could have gone out as it wasn’t a surprise or unexpected to her (and she has no normal feelings like most would).

I also didn’t think she would testify because she would be eaten to bits by the prosecution because of contradictory lies and weaving of stories. She would not be able to help herself and only hurt her case. I think the defense threw stuff at the wall to try to raise any doubts but other than that, had a very weak case.

Matthew Bartlet - way to make the day even more entertaining!

Hold him in contempt! Off with his head!

She might have carried out the act that caused Caylee’s death (drugging her or leaving her in a hot car or whatever) before her date but not discovered that the child was dead until the next day.

True. She might have spent the night with her boyfriend, found and disposed of Caylee, grieved for a few days, and then competed in the hot-body contest.

6 days in jail! That was amusing.

Marian, if that were the case, Casey certainly showed no evidence of being upset or stressed out the next day when the death would have been discovered – or any time during the next 31 days. And my understanding is that if the death occurred as a result of Casey drugging the child and placing her in the trunk (without the intent of killing her), it would still be first-degree murder.

Who is Matthew Bartlett, and who is getting 6 days in jail?

Guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I don’t know how anyone who watched the trial could conclude otherwise.

GA2012 - just a spectator. He gave the prosecutor the finger. The Judge wasn’t happy.

GA2012…I went off to google Matthew Bartlett and I had no clue who members were referring to and just found it. He was a spectator in the courtroom and gave the finger to the prosecutor and received six days in jail for that action. :D

Just like many a grieving mom.
