I don’t know that I would make such a distinction in the lying. If pervasive lying is going on in a household with children, for any reason, then children see it as acceptable behavior and incorporate it into their arsenal of defense mechanisms. Casey lies with detail and precision - just like her Mom and Dad.

Even though Casey Anthony did not testify, we are supposed to assume that the stuff her attorney said in his opening statement – Caylee drowned accidentally, George discovered her and helped dispose of the body, Casey was sexually abused by George and her brother so learned to lie as a result – came from Casey, correct? The commentators have said several times that it would be unethical for the attorney to come up with something that made more sense, that the attorney had to work with what the client/defendent said happened.

However, several people have said that by not testifying, if convicted Casey will be able to request a new trial and come up with a better story about what happened, perhaps testifying herself at the second trial.

How could she do this? If what her attorney says with regard to what happened can only have been proposed by Casey, wouldn’t it mean that she and/or her attorney were lying if this is the story/defense they presented at this first trial? Any attorneys out there who can speak to this? If she chose not to testify at this trial, isn’t that her agreement that what was presented by her attorney is true/OK by her?

While that’s true, there have been rumblings that Baez did kind of “work up” this story AFTER he saw the evidence to make sure there wasn’t anything to completely blow the story out of the water.

If Casey had told him the story within the first few months, then Baez would have been going to the prosecution with the “it was an accident” story.

An interesting question (that we’ll never know the answer) is…Baez, when did Casey tell you the drowning story?

That’s part of the oddness when it comes to the legal system. The lawyer isn’t swearing to tell the truth, he’s just (supposedly) saying what his client has said and has no way to know if the client is lying or not. So, with another case, the Casey could supposedly say…well, I lied to Baez, Baez gave the wrong story, now here’s the real story.

I vote for summary execution. All in favor?

I’ve been watching the case on HLN for the past few days. I’m just glad that there will not be any more “sidebars”. This has been one case where I wish they would change the law and not have to get all 12 jurors to vote for murder 1 (pre-med.), 2, aggravated mansl., or mansl. in order to convict her. I don’t see where each and every juror is going to say it was pre-meditated and I think they will “compromise” on a lesser charge (hopefully nothing less than murder 2) in order to get a unanamous decision. I can NOT even imagine getting a hung jury and starting this charade all over again!

Whatever 4, opening statements aren’t evidence.

I think one of the reasons for so many sidebars was because of Baez’ mistakes and inexperience.

Now that it’s known that Cindy didn’t do those computer searches, it really puts the highlight on the fact that Casey did. That thought is going to hang in the jury’s heads during deliberations furthering the notion of pre-med or child-abuse that ended in a child’s death.

Casey knew that she did the searches, and she knew that her mom was going to say that she did them if she were asked. Casey should have told Baez not to put her mom on the stand and ask those questions because Casey knew that SHE had done them and the lie could backfire…which it did. But, Casey only cares about Casey.

Cindy won’t likely be charged with perjury. And, neither will River Cruz or whatever her name really is.

Interesting point made last night, the defense had 13 days to present their case and literally used Casey’s family 19 times to testify. Casey literally threw her whole family under the bus to prove that they, not she, killed Caylee. What a monster!
Even if she ever was aquitted of all charges, she would never last in society. She’s finished either way!

It’s Brooke Tripp.

Perhaps you’ve never had the pleasure of knowing a psychopath and compulsive liar. Although they rarely are successful in the long run, they never run out of guileless people ready to lend a helping hand and who end up being used, drained, and abandoned promptly when they run out of funds or patience, whichever comes first. Casey will survive just find, sadly.

The “Casey Bodyguard” (Tracy) that was place in the Anthony home when Casey was first released from jail was interviewed tonight.

At the time, Tracy believed that Caylee was missing and wanted to help gather info to help find her. She was dismayed to find the Casey didn’t want to talk about Caylee.

When Tracy got a photo album of Caylee’s pics (to get a better idea of what CAylee looked like) for the searches…Casey grabbed her own photo album and plunked in on top to show Tracy pics of HER.

When Tracey commented that CAylee was cute, Casey said…“Well, I’m cute, too.”

It was obvious that Casey wasn’t missing CAylee.

And…Tracey said that she witnessed a screaming match between Casey and George. George was yelling at Casey to tell them everything she knew so that they could find Caylee. And Casey told him to stop acting like a cop.

Get it? Brooke Tripp?

Well I hope they find her guilty -__- her mother lying could go either way. Baez can take it to his defense and say " see they all lie" or Ashton to say “if she didn’t do the search Casey must’ve”. I am disappointed at the job the defense did. I really think that the HLN people put it best. Baez is throwing at a wall and seeing what sticks. Really asking about burying pets where EVERYONE including Casey was well aware of? Tracing the Duct tape back to Ohio. I was waiting for the hard questions about molestation and a story about drowning I got nothing. Even evidence wise; the prosecution turned in 338+ pieces of evidence and the defense got barely 80 (last I heard) it is clear to me that Baez did not do his homework and was ill prepared to defend this case b

I was not impressed with Baez. A few media pundits, feel he did better than he is being credited with. He has a despicable client who lies, and he could only work with what she told him. His defense was to create doubt for the death penalty, not so much for the other charges. Should be interesting to watch the closing arguments.

Baez made serious errors. He opened the door for the prosecution to bring in evidence and bring up issues that the defense didn’t want presented.

Baez actually caused George to essentially say that he now thinks Casey killed her d.

And…the suicide note proves that Geo had no idea of what happened to Caylee. If he did, he would have confessed in the note to allow Casey to be freed.

Ashton has been brilliant so far in closing. I have grateful to have prosecutors like him serving the public in our state.

watching the closing arguments…havent been watching the trial

here is something i have thought for a while…i believe Zanny the Nanny was her code for xanax to keep Caylee quiet as needed…

I believe she googled chloroform and neck breaking but i dont think that was her plan for Caylee… i wouldnt put it past her though to check out something like that for her parents…take the life insurance, house etc.

whatever happened i think Casey is responsible but i dont think chloroform had anything to do with it…

Today is the first day I’ve watched the HLN coverage and I’m not at all sorry that I’ve been watching it online at CNN. These ‘experts’ are some of the most annoying I’ve ever seen!

Jeff Ashton did a brilliant job with his closing arguments. I was getting chills and goosebumps as he was talking.

Whoa, parent56, that is a creepy theory, and sounds like just the kind of thing this sicko would do. Do you know of any evidence of it?

mantori…nope…but heard xanax called zanny’s before…and i could see her and her friends saying it… and if xanax has kept her quiet before, why change to something she had to make?? if she had googled chloroform at the time maybe she had run out of a xanax supply…but she googled it 3 months before.

she doesnt gain anything except not being “burdened by” Caylee, if Caylee dies, but if george and cindy die… i have no idea what she might have gained…all just my thoughts no proof at all
