Casey Anthony?

REALLY!!?? That sounds like a bombshell. Did the jury hear about that? It’s not a huge leap from making up armed robbery to making up accidental drowning. I really hope the jury got to hear this.

No, they didn’t get to hear this.

The jury also didn’t get to hear that she wrote those bad checks from her friend’s acct. That may come up during the penalty phase.

The jury doesn’t get to hear about prior criminal behavior during a trial because it’s too prejudicial.

And, her parents never filed on her about the $4k.

The bottom line is that this girl has a LONG history of making up FABULOUS lies. Incredible lies.

She’s made up friends, events, jobs, etc.

She took a Bday check from Granny…and then used the routing numbers from the check to make a huge cell phone payment online. The B-day check was for something like $20.00…but the cell phone bill was for several hundred dollars.

Her cell phone bills are another area that never got explored. She wasn’t on her parents’ plan. She was on her own…and she didn’t have a good plan at all. Each month her bill was several hundred dollars…and somehow would get paid. Her mom admitted to police that she often caught Casey stealing from them in various ways. I think she even stated that the total amount would be over $20k.

For these reasons, I really don’t think the parents want her to be “free” because I really don’t think they want her in their home…she’ll steal them blind.

So, now Cindy’s testimony is going to be impeached. She testified that she was home at the time of the chloroform searches and that she did them, BUT…the state just got ahold of her detailed work records which indicate that she really was at work during the time…and not at home.

Cindy had earlier claimed that her time card didn’t reflect the fact that she was home that day because she’s salaried. But, now the state has evidence of actual work/computer entries that she made at work during those hours. too bad Cindy…you lied to protect your D and you’re going to get busted.

So many lies. It was stupid of Cindy to lie about being home when she was at work. It was stupid of her to be lying under oath. Geez, what kind of example is that to her pathologically lying daughter who has to KNOW she was lying, since it was Casey who was the one who did the searches.

If Casey gets off, these parents deserve what the get: getting her back.

This will backfire though, and Casey is not going to get off scot-free

I don’t know why Cindy decided to lie about that, of all things. (Although I also suspect she lied about the ladder being on the pool and the gate being open the day Caylee went missing.) Since Cindy said she didn’t search for “how to make chloroform” numerous times, I don’t think her claim that she had seached for “chloroform” took any suspicion away from Casey.

“The jury also didn’t get to hear that she wrote those bad checks from her friend’s acct. That may come up during the penalty phase.”

Actually they did. Cindy mentioned it one of the times the defense had her on the stand. One of the many questions asked by Baez which backfired on him.

I don’t know why Cindy decided to lie about that, of all things.

Cindy knew that THAT was the issue that would be considered pre-med.

Cindy and Geo know that she’s guilty of something bad…but they don’t want her to get the DP…so Cindy tried to cover up the evidence of pre-med.

Cindy must not have realized that the state would be able to look at log-on info at her work. She’s a nurse…I don’t know how it all works, but presumably when a nurse imputs something into a record, she has to put some kind of ID code in to identify which nurse in putting in what info. The state now has evidence that she was at work during those times because of such entries.

Cindy thought she could just say that her time cards aren’t accurate because she’s salaried.

*“The jury also didn’t get to hear that she wrote those bad checks from her friend’s acct. That may come up during the penalty phase.”

=====================

Actually they did. Cindy mentioned it one of the times the defense had her on the stand. One of the many questions asked by Baez which backfired on him. *

Oh wow…well the prosecution couldn’t bring it up. What did Cindy say? I wish I had seen that! What did Baez ask that prompted that response?

^ I don’t remember exactly what happened leading up to her bringing it up but my mouth dropped when I heard her mention the check forgery and then the commentators immediately weighed in on how stupid Baez that he asked something which let that info come in.

My theory as to why Cindy lied about the computer searches for chloroform is that she is not going to put her daughter in the chair, but that is going to be up to the lawyers and the jury to do. She won’t be able to live with herself if her testimony puts her daughter there.
One of the callers in a news show had an interesting theory, she recalled that Cindy had mentioned that the dogs had been lethargic, maybe Casey was doing a trial run with the Chloroform on the dogs. Realistically, most drugs are weight based, and it is conceivable that she was testing it out on the dogs.

^^^

Yes…there recently was a case where a parent killed his kids with anti-freeze…and he first tested it on the dog.

Of course it would have been a bad idea to have Casey testify, but another point was brought up. If Casey had testified to the "pool drowning/dad finding/dad hiding story, then if this case is over-turned on appeal or incompetent representation, then the next atty would have to use the same crazy story. By not testifying, the next atty can use a whole new story.

For anyone who thinks that George killed Caylee…if that were true, then Casey wouldn’t be telling the drowning story…because either she wouldn’t know what happened to Caylee or she would say that her dad killed Caylee.

Mom2,
If you’re not already a lawyer or a detective, you missed your calling!

You are so right, mom2, post 490. I said that pages ago about the strategy of her not testifying. Glad we agree!

mom2collegekids, you’re needed on the Dominique Strauss-Kahn thread…

Casey’s mom may be doing time on her own if the additional information from the prior employer to be presented by the prosecution in rebuttal establishes that she was at work at the time of the web searches on the Anthony’s home computer.

Nah. It’s too easy to fall back on “it was so long ago I just got confused”.

^^ Yea but the defense is getting work records from July 15, 2008 to see if Cindy was “at work” when she made the 911 call. That could hurt the prosecution’s rebuttal and keep Cindy from being impeached.

I just read George Anthony’s suicide note and can’t help but wondering why he left nothing next to Casey’s name at the end. He does go on about looking for her friends and saying she doesn’t deserve this earlier in the letter, but he says his final goodbyes to Cindy, Caylee, and Lee (in that order) as his meds are kicking in, and leaves Casey’s line (the final one) blank.

And to all who think there’s reasonable doubt that Casey was involved in this case, there is, but only to the jury, IMO. Us living here in Orlando are all convinced Casey did it whether intentionally or by accident, as we’ve seen facts such as the one mantori mentioned at the top of this page that the jury does not know about. She has wronged so many people in this case whether or not she killed her daughter. Even beyond the thefts she committed, she went through boyfriends and friends like water because it wouldn’t take anyone too long to find out how sleazy this pathological liar was. They had to select the jury from a different county because anyone in Orange County would have been too biased. This has been day in and day out the top news story of the past three years for our local stations, and after the big volunteer-led manhunt for Caylee between July and December of 2008, many are disillusioned from the entire family.

*Casey’s mom may be doing time on her own *

I don’t think that will happen.

*Yea but the defense is getting work records from July 15, 2008 to see if Cindy was “at work” when she made the 911 call. *

Are they trying to look to see if the time stamps at her work are wrong?

I doubt that Cindy’s records will show that she was at work during the 911 call because she had gone home, searched thru Casey’s stuff, found Amy’s contact info, called Amy at work, later picked up Amy at work, drove to Tony’s home, picked up Casey, then drove Amy home, then went to the police station (which was closed), then called another police station, then went home, THEN called 911.

I would think too much time would have passed to suggest that “time stamps” would indicate that she was “at work” during the 911 call.

Well Cindy Anthony proved the apple doesn’t fall from the tree. She is as good a liar as her daughter. I don’t think most people believed her anyway but the computer records really do her in. She should be prosecuted for perjury, but I don’t think she will be. Pehaps the best punishment is that her lies may have done more harm to her daughter.

^^^

Yes…it’s obvious that the Anthonys are frequent liars. Cindy often lied to cover-up embarrassing family issues (such as Geo’s gambling issues and Casey’s escapades). Geo often lied to cover up his mistakes.

It doesn’t sound like Cindy lies for “personal gain” or lies to cover-up “bad behavior” on her part… like Casey does. Lying to cover up embarrassing family issues is very different than lying to get money out of people or stealing or lying about your own horrific behavior.

I think Cindy is a hard-working and good person who is just horribly embarrassed by all that has gone on in her family and wants (very badly) to have a “good front” to outsiders to cover up all the dysfunction inside.

I agree,mom2.

I don’t think anyone believed Cindy’s story about the chlorophyll/chloroform as it didn’t make any sense. If one thought their dog was eating a plant which was poisonous they would google ‘plants that are poisonous to dogs’, not chlorophyll!
