Casey Anthony?

Florida’s death penalty law is so antiquated, it’s about time.

one of my favorite commentators was Jay ? he was Katie Couric’s husband… he was on alot of shows during the OJ trial.

Hey HLN, stop showing the same clip of Casey coming into the courtroom to sit at the defense table in the blue striped shirt…I need to tear myself away from the TV…help…
Also the way they pronounce Jean Casarez’s name…Jinkasarous…like a new kind of dinosaur

lol batllo… same here i really need to be doing other stuff

p56-okay, I’m reaching for the remote and changing it to the Food Channel…join me…

Such a precious baby killed. So many people would have adopted and loved her like her grandparents loved and took care of her. Senseless.

She really didn’t need to be adopted…George and Cindy were very willing to raise her. The prosecution made a slight error when they speaking to the jury…Ashton said something like…“You may be asking yourself, why didn’t Casey just give Caylee to her parents to raise.” Ashton said something like “Casey knew that Cindy wouldn’t let her walk away from her responsibilities.” That’s not true. Cindy was very willing to fight for custody and Cindy’s mom’s emails indicate that (they weren’t put in evidence at the trial).

The truth is that Casey DIDN"T want to give Caylee to her parents because it BUGGED Casey sooooo much that G&C spent so much money on Caylee. The last thing she’d want is for Caylee to become their daughter - their “good daughter” - contrasting with Casey “the bad daughter.”

In what way? Do they still stone people? If by antiquated you mean “from a long time ago,” doesn’t that apply to most death-penalty laws in the US?

LOL!!! Yes! I’m glad it’s not just me. I’m still not used to it and go, “What-a-saurus?” every single time. :D

^^Agree to some degree. Cindy and George were in denial and helpless about their daughter, and their daughter was making such poor choices that they could not have raised their grandchild with Casey as “mom”, or Casey in their everyday lives. The situation was just so overwhelming. Cindy and George had endless love for their grandchild.

^^^

right…that’s why Cindy told her mom (Shirley) that she was going to get custody of Caylee.

This came about too late for Caylee. Social workers should have been involved from the start.

This situation is much too common. A teen or young adult has a child and moves back home or continues to live at home, with the grandparents basically raising the child while the parent lives and acts very irresponsibly. One friend’s son is in essence holding his parents hostage, threatening to move out with the child if the parents try to get their son to hold a job, go into treatment, and/or take on more of the parenting responsibilities. When these parents mentioned trying to get guardianship of their grandson, their son moved back in with his junkie girlfriend and cut off the grandparents’ contact with the little boy. (Eventually the son moved back home with his son, but on his terms, of course, with the grandparents forced to shut up and put up with their son’s on-going issues.)

*Social workers should have been involved from the start. *

there were no red flags for SWs to be involved. SWs don’t get involved just because a mom is young (and Casey wasn’t THAT young)…especially if she’s living with her parents.

On what grounds could they get involved?? there needs to be grounds.

Caylee had a home, clothes, food, and seemed to always be under adult care…

Love the comment about jinkasaurus! I got a good laugh out of that…that bugs me every time I put on Nancy grace!!!

Just googled “Jinkasaurus” and apparently we are not the only ones who mock the way Jean Casarez’s name is garbled on HLN, esp. by Nancy Grace.

Maybe that’s Ms. Grace’s pet name for her. An inside joke or something. Seriously, now I wonder.

I can’t watch her because of “tot mom.” What a stupid moniker.

I actually honest to god thought her name /was/ jinkasaurus…

I bet she calls her tot mom to keep her from misspeaking and mixing up caylee and casey’s names.

I’ve been watching HLN anyway just so I can watch this all day without anything interrupting. I won’t miss Nancy Grace when this is over.

I think that there were plenty of behaviors from Casey in advance of Caylee’s death for grandparents to contact a child protection agency. I think at that point it is up to an agency to investigate. I think that they would have investigated. Hindsight is 20:20. Grandparents did not see this coming. They probably thought they could deal with Casey and her problems and help to raise their grandchild.

My psychology class studied Casey’s personality at the end of the school year. We all thought she was/is a sociopath. We also know that sociopaths aren’t born but made (with a genetic predisposition). Do you think that G&C are partly to blame for Casey’s bad behavior?

I think that G&C are only to blame for Casey’s behavior if she is in fact a victim of some type sexual abuse and one of them was the abuser or knew about this abuse. I don’t believe that she was abused, but can’t be certain of what went on behind closed doors.
