The embedded video is quite funny!
My kitten is not even 5 months old and he weighs 7.92 lbs. He’s a solid little guy. I CAN’T WAIT until he gets out of the chewing on cords phase. They say it’s usually by 6ish months.
Right now we have trips planned for August and October, and we can’t decide if we need someone to stay in the house with our cats, or if having someone come by twice a day would be fine. We’ve only done once a day previously, but this guy is so used to us being home most of the time I think we need at least twice a day - $$$.
Just was approved by the rescue, and, if all goes well, this little kitten will be joining us next weekend
Adorable!
What a cutie!
Awww black kitty! Boy or girl?
Boy, as my current cat is a girl. Hoping that helps them get along.
We never had issues introducing kittens to adult cats. Hope it is a smooth introduction for all involved!
I’m no expert, but with the 4 cats I’ve owned, I think the female kitten to female adult was the hardest.
This time I picked a male because I’d read that they tended to be easier to introduce to an older female (and maybe to any older cat, I can’t remember). Introductions were fairly uneventful, although we did work up to it over several days.
Our introductions were a female kitten to a female adult cat. The most eventful went like this. Our resident cat was about 3 when we brought home a tiny calico kitten. She saw the kitten and hissed at her really loudly! The kitten was terrified and went splat on the floor! Before anyone can move to save the kitten from what looked like imminent mauling, the adult cat put her paw on top of the terrified kitten, hissed some more, and then started licking the kitten like a momma cat! We were in shock. They were best buds from that introduction on.
Kitten update: the rescue took “him” in today to be neutered and he is a she. So, back to square one.
Speak to me about two female cats getting along, or not. Experiences?
We currently have 4 cats, 2 male, 2 female. All get along. The two males are better friends than the two females. They are more independent.
I would say in general the male cats we’ve had have been more easy going than the females, but the only time we had one cat who we just couldn’t keep was a white male who came with a parasite and was isolated for 4 months.
I wouldn’t been terribly worried about two females
We had 2 females. They were best buds. When the older one died, the younger one went into grieving.
Our current cats are 2 F and one M. We had 2 F, but one slipped outside and was likely eaten by coyotes. Then little kid brought over a M+F pair she acquired as kittens. After initial into which was a bit rough, with the resident F battling the M, they all now get along pretty well. The two F love to curl up in a big catball. When it gets cold, the M joins them.
So I’d say no problems with 2 F.
Thank you! Well, in the, what, one hour since I posted my question, I decided to adopt a (male) kitten. A video of him decided me; can’t post it here unfortunately.
Congrats! Enjoy your new family member!
He’s beautiful!
So jealous. I can hear that little purr and feel how soft he is. Handsome little guy.
