Congrats! I can “hear” him purring through the picture.
My young man (not quite 5 months) is spending time with my son’s mostly Husky dog for the first time this weekend. The dog is doing so well, but the kitten is still very nervous around her. By the end of the week I expect we may find them curled up together, but that may be too much to ask. We’ll see…

My not quite 6 month old kitten is close to 10 pounds. He’s going to be big.
Question for people with multiple cats -
How many litter boxes do you have going at one time? When we have 2 cats we typically go with just one litter box, except when we have the kitten “safe room” going, and when our older cat had diabetes and we wanted her to have options.
So far we’ve had to with the 6 mo old and our 5 year old, but I think we’re going to go down to one.
Three cats, 2 boxes. Can’t fit another one in the space or I would have added a third box.

I know they say you’re supposed to have at least the same number of boxes as cats, if not one extra, but we’ve never done that. When we had two cats; we had 1 box. When we had 3 cats, we added a second box. Once we had 4 I think we stuck with 2 until one started having problems. Then we added a third upstairs.
Like you, we also added a small extra in a safe room for kittens. But we have not had that in a long time!

2 cats, 3 litterboxes.
It is amazing to me how much of a difference it has made to not having cat smell in the house, and how much preference the cats have for specific boxes. We clean them out twice a day.

My “problem” is the second litter box resides in our “guest bedroom” which is the kitten safe room. We are having a cat sitter stay in the house for 10 days, and I don’t want him to have a litter box in the room he will be staying in. Kitten has more or less grown out of safe room, but we still have cat tree in there too. It will have to be moved I guess…
I am trying 1 box, and if it becomes a problem I will put another in a different bedroom while we are gone.

Three cats, three boxes. I have an older female (18 yo) who doesn’t like to share and will attack the other cats who dare to try to use her box. And if one of the other cats does use her box, she will pee/poop on the floor right next to it to show her displeasure.
Vet suggested that the ratio should be at least 1 box per cat.

We have 3 cats and 4 litter boxes all lined up together. It’s funny to watch them chose where to go…they don’t have their own, they just do a little research and sniffing and looking around before selecting one.

My three cats seem to use one of the boxes for # 1 and the other for # 2.

We gave our cat lover kid a Litter Robot when she got pregnant (her husband traveled a lot for work so no one else to clean the box). Amazingly, the thing still works after almost 3 years. Had a little issue with the bonnet detachment, but that was solved with a piece of sticky tape. The caveat is that kid’s cat is tiny and fits into the box perfectly. A Litter Robot would not work with any of my giant cats.
We are leaving the kitten alone for one overnight this weekend. I feel like a bad parent, but we have to go to a memorial service. We are going to put 2 litter boxes out, right next to each other.
I think when we are gone 10 days and have the cat sitter here I’ll actually have 2 litter boxes out, just in case he’s not as diligent as we are about cleaning them. (His assured me kitten would get lots of play time but he couldn’t promise me he’d do the best litter box management. I can live with that for the time we’re gone).

The sweetest cat I ever owned was my Leo. Yellow male tabby.
When I was in my 20’s, I had a female yellow with long hair. I didn’t know then how special she was!
Her name was Kitty Cat. I just could not decide on a name and was calling her that anyway. So it was her name.

Ahhh that’s sweet. Our very first cat found us and we ended up calling her TC for “the cat” - none of the boys like my sweet names for her so the cat became TC.

We also had a TC, for the same reason! She was an awesome cat.

There’s a horse on my farm named TC. I don’t know the story behind her name, but it clearly wasn’t because they were calling her The Cat!

My aunt and her husband also had a TC… for either THE cat or Tom Cat.
We also had a cat we named TC - for Top Cat (popular cartoon in the early 60’s). We didn’t change the name when it turned out to be a female cat.
Our tabby cat was named Kitty when we adopted her at two years old. We changed it to Tabby, one step less generic. But sometimes I called her Tabitha Cat XXX (our last name).

Attention cat (and dog!) lovers! I just tested a new to me tool for getting cat hair out of the sofa fabric. While ChomChom takes good care of 90% of the stuff, there is still some embedded in the fabric. I heard of and bought a tool called Uproot Clean on Amazon. This little thing rocks! Have to be careful with some fabrics (can NOT be used on knitted fabrics or Berber carpets or anything that can snag easily), but other than that, it is amazing at getting the embedded fluff that a vacuum or ChomChom can’t get.
