Try Churu sticks - cats will often eat those when they won’t eat anything else.

We’ve fostered scared kitties before and the one thing that has always worked to get kitties to eat is to give them a can of tuna (liquid included - this is important as that also takes care of any drinking issues too).

I usually put it on a dinner plate so the liquid is easily accessible yet contained and flake the tuna a bit to separate it on the plate. Also makes sure that nothing is bothering the cat’s whiskers while eating.

Is her food and water in a place that is convenient for you or for her? Put a bowl of wet food as close as you can to where she is hiding. That is her safe place. Also, make sure she has several hiding spots around the room in case she does explore.

I had a terrified 8 month old cat in foster for 2 months earlier this year. At first she hid 23.5 hours per day and only moved to use the litter box. She ended up shy but sweet and eager to see me when I entered the room. She was adopted into a great home.

Any update on the kitten?

oops… different recipient.

Kitty finally started eating some dry food after day 2. Hard to tell with her water bowl, but she does not appear dehydrated. I checked yesterday with her rescue family (who deals with LOTS of other cats), and they said it is quite common for rescues to go on a hunger strike for a few days when first moved, so that was good to hear.

She now allows head rubs in very small doses, complete with purring, so all good signs. She is also coming out of her den briefly during the day, and appears (or at least sounds) to be having a blast - between 2 & 4 am. We just need to work on her schedule! (She’s in our bedroom/bathroom).

I’m going to vent here - I hope you people don’t mind.
I’ve been looking for a bengal kitten that met our timeline and other requirements, and we (finally) put our deposit down in Mid-march and were scheduled to go pick him up this coming Thursday. He was neutered last Thursday, and his blood work was out of whack - both red and white cells were high. Now apparently his red is normal, but his white is even higher. Breeder wants to keep him an extra week, and monitor the situation. She said if I was uncomfortable I could have my deposit back. I really appreciate the breeder’s honesty, but I’m sad, and worried we might not get him now. I called our vet and they asked the name of her vet so they can review the records. Hopefully it’s not something serious. BUT, prior to this happening, I also found out that the kitten’s dad had died of a rare form of cancer. Our vet said that if the kitten was otherwise healthy the cancer wasn’t necessarily a reason not to get him. BUT now with this too, I’m not sure what vet will say.

UPDATE - yay, we are going to get the kitten. His bloodwork is much better now (and heading in the right direction), he is not lethargic at all, and he is gaining weight. We pick him up Saturday!

Foster update: It has been two weeks, and she now acts like she’s lived here forever. Acclimated very quickly. She’s a sweetie. I didn’t realize it would be so hard to give up a foster when a new home is eventually found.

Oh my! He’s the cutest!!!

Such a cute kitty! What is his name?

Java. He’s a bengal. Java is mostly because of James Van Allen, a physicist at University of Iowa.
