Cat show help

I’m taking 2 kittens-5 months old-to our first cat show. They are a larger breed cat so they are pretty big already. My problem is carrying a stressed out kitten from the benching area to the cages in the judging rings. Hanging onto a crazed cat is difficult to say the least. Their claws will have been clipped the day before. Does anyone know any special way to hold them that doesn’t involve wrapping them in a towel? If the whole thing stresses them too much I will just go home, but I would like to give it a try.

I’m no expert on cat shows, but maybe you could get them used to wearing a harness before you go. It’s easier to hang onto the harness than the cat. That’s what I used when I had to carry our cat through airport security.

Second the collar, harness, leash suggestion.

Don’t know about cat shows but when I needed my cat calm to get shots wrapping in a towel seemed to calm her the most.
Just being held-- grab their hind quarters securely tucked up in one hand/arm (curled up so legs can’t push against you–make a ball) and paws held together in the other. Hold close to body firmly but gently.
Good luck!

Maybe google cat show forums? I can’t imagine dealing with my cat in a show setting. Good luck! FWIW, the one cat show I went to, the cats all seemed pretty relaxed.

Thanks for the replies. Not allowed to use leashes. I’m thinking maybe scruff them and then hold on for all I’m worth? Maybe use gloves? One of them hates being held.

Can you use. little blanket to wrap them?

If they don’t like to be held, I doesnt sound like they are ready to be shown.

Can’t use a carrier to go from bench to show cage?

I would think the cat’s breeder could help you with these questions.

I don’t know anything about cat shows, but at dog shows the dogs have to enjoy it to do well. But of course they have to show their movement as well, and I gather cats don’t.
