<p>I want to write an essay concerning how my father is catholic and my mother jewish. Have any ideas? I live in NJ and i’m applying to BC, BU, Villanova, U of Notre Dame, U of rochester, Colby College, Babson College, Northeastern, TCNJ, and U-Pitt, and Lehigh</p>
<p>That is a terrible essay to write- an idea that you should not follow through with. </p>
<p>What does that tell admissions about you? Nothing at all. About your character, your personality, YOU? Nothing really. Your parents religions doesn’t really serve as a topic for an essay. I mean if you extrapolate that, why don’t you just write an essay on your parents’ jobs? </p>
<p>Make your essay have you as the focal point not your parents.</p>
<p>How has your parents’ religions affected you? If it really hasn’t, then you’re just commentining on the situation as an observer, and you won’t be telling adcoms anything that gives them a reason to admit you. It’s the same reason why writing an essay about someone you admire or an issue of local/national importance can be tricky.</p>
<p>Don’t look for a topic that sounds cool, and then try to search for its significance. Find things that have influenced you, mean something to you, or help mold your dreams. Write your essay on those things.</p>
