Caution! Hysterically Funny Website!

Check out http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/</a> for a compilation of discussions about baby names from baby-naming boards (The Internet has everything!), with commentary. Do not read while drinking coffee . .

Very funny. For girl’s names I think this quote from the site sums it up well:

<<i got=“” an=“” e-mail=“” a=“” while=“” back=“” from=“” lady=“” who=“” said=“” she=“” gave=“” her=“” potential=“” baby=“” names=“” test:=“” did=“” they=“” fit=“” better=“” in=“” the=“” sentence,=“” “ladies=”" and=“” gentlemen,=“” president=“” of=“” united=“” states=“” [blank]=“” [blank]“=”" or=“” “and=”" now,=“” on=“” main=“” stage,=“” lusty=“” beaver=“” adult=“” club=“” presents=“” hot=“” action=“” [blank].“=”“>>
<i got=”" an=“” e-mail=“” a=“” while=“” back=“” from=“” lady=“” who=“” said=“” she=“” gave=“” her=“” potential=“” baby=“” names=“” test:=“” did=“” they=“” fit=“” better=“” in=“” the=“” sentence,=“” “ladies=”" and=“” gentlemen,=“” president=“” of=“” united=“” states=“” [blank]=“” [blank]“=”" or=“” “and=”" now,=“” on=“” main=“” stage,=“” lusty=“” beaver=“” adult=“” club=“” presents=“” hot=“” action=“” [blank].“=”">

haha great…

Moon Unit >>> Moon Pie

Daweizel >>> DA WEEZEL (Zappa goes hip-hop)

all those names that just keep playing on each other…clutches head in agony :smiley:

I have actually heard of and seen a guy, just a year older than I, whose name is Darke Sage Green…poor kid!!

My first wife’s grandparents were Hungarian Jews. She wanted to name our first son Samu (after ??? - could have been after Samu Stern, a Hungarian Jewish leader in the 1800’s). Well, the Hungarian pronunciation of Samu is “Shamu.” Even though this was before anyone ever heard of the killer whale of that name, I still protested, saying that the kid would be called “shampoo.” That’s one of the few battles I did win.

I was reading the entries on that website while I was in bed. My wife was already asleep and I was laughing so hard it woke her up. Thanks for the url.

Good for you, digmedia! There are times when it definately pays to put one’s foot down.

Glad you enjoyed the site.

Haha like the joke about the name LaTrine. Excellent in Ebonics but not so much in English.

Many moons ago, when I was in med school helping with a delivery on my OB rotation, we delivered the placenta, after a healthy >10 lb. baby girl was born. I made the mistake of saying, “here comes the placenta,” or something like that. When I visited the neonatal unit later that day, I saw on that adorabole baby’s crib the name “Placenta ___.”
The mom obviously loved the ring of that name!

Well, I just ****ed away about 45 minutes of my life (and I think my pants too) while reading that site. It is equally disasterous to read while drinking a can of Diet Coke, droplets of which are now splatered over the walls of the kitchen in patterns which would even baffle the forensic techs on CSI.

Fortunately no one else in the family was seriously harmed, I think they were all warned off of entering the room by the early snorts and table slappings which preceded when I finally lost it.

That woman is wicked.

My D squared off in a bball game a few years ago against a kid named Utopia…

Some years ago, a Harvard Law student gave the graduate Commencement speech. His name was Bright Yellow (but his hair was not).

I heard of a kid named Random Sparks.

He won some CTY award a few years back. Poor thing.

I taught a child many years ago named Phoenicia Ann. The parent could not spell Phoenicia…the parent informed me: “so we just call her Ann.” This is TRUE.

I know a pair of siblings named Fire and Blaze.

A few months ago we had an Amber Alert here in Maryland for a 9 year old named Dayjavoo.

You can’t make this stuff up. Thanks Moominmama!

So, did anyone see him once, let alone again? :rolleyes:

Turns out Dayjavoo has an online website, and she can’t spell any better than her parents: <a href=“Nick | Kids Shows | Full Episodes & Video Clips”>Nick | Kids Shows | Full Episodes & Video Clips;

Hmph! It was all fun and games until someone made fun of “garland.”…

(Actually, a surname from way back in my family…I would never do that to a kid, though I did have a Great Uncle Garland, (his middle name was “Swayne”) but he was never called Garland—he was always, “Garnie.”

My H saw babies in the hospital he worked at named Pepsi and Popcorn. My favorite name of a student was “Venuslily.”

Re: Phoenicia Ann; does she have a sister named Black Athena? :(
