Bad idea guys. At least keep some working version up until Jan 15! Some kids are still working on the process.
Poor timing and very inconsiderate.
Please reconsider.

It is crazy from an IT perspective to shut down a tool for months. That is terrible planning, and a disservice to your user community. For heaven’s sake, invest in a test environment and a project manager to help plan a short cutover period.
Yeah, January 15th would’ve been a much more considerate date.
EDIT: On second thought, this website has been so helpful to me and all for free. Very grateful for this website and y’all making improvements on it!
I agree @Jpgranier The forum has been incredibly helpful to us. But I still think they should hold off on pulling the tool down until Jan 15.
Actually, the worst part of it all is the huge brown banner that now takes up half of my screen!
ETA: you can click the little “x” to get rid of the banner. lol
Actuallly the timing is a good idea. No students will be on their applications between 12/22 until January 15
I believe this to be incorrect. Although most kids have submitted their apps, many kids have been thrown off by ED deferrals and denials and will be choosing and applying ahead of the Jan 1 - Jan 15 deadlines.
And I hope they don’t put in that awful, widely used new design of big boxes, big color and no info without lots of scrolling and clicking.
It’s tough to keep a version going while working on another version.
As a parent, honestly, I didn’t find the tool that helpful and went to other sites (plus the conversation here)…I believe there’s great room for improvement. Plus, now is not a bad time…many kids have already created their list even if they haven’t finished the applications…
It isn’t that tough…and the kids scrambling for more last minute safeties, or those who are getting a late start will be out of luck.
