I love the tub, but it does not speak modern or contemporary to me. Perfect for the current style of the house though. And that is a problem. Modern = bright white.
I don’t think that tub is ‘contemporary’ but I am not be an expert on full contemporary style. She wants grey/white/black laser cut honed marble tile in patterns (she already sent links). Nope, not going to happen. Not going to put that all over the floor with that bathtub. This is going to take some international-level diplomatic skills to get out of this one.
Here’s the tile she wants
No marble or large patches of accent tile for this particular tub. I think limestone color (just not real limestone as it is awful to keep neat) and maybe some copper tiles.
oh GOSH NO!!!
Does she want to get dizzy every time she wants to walk into the bathroom? POOR design and reselling will be an issue.
An adobe house with that??? No
This is perfect as an accent tile, but the entire floor? Just no. And definitely not with that tub, not even as an accent.
I used to do a lesson with my students called “busy busy”. It was about clothing choices, but basically it was about NOT having two things that were busy together like this owner wants. She either needs a plainer tub, or a plainer plan for the surrounding things…IMO.
. . . Or new glasses! Holy cow!!
This is the bathtub that the wife wants. A little better, but still hard to do nice tile design
Googling “copper tub tile styling ideas” brings up a Pinterest page that has a lot of pix of copper tubs in various bathrooms. Some look good.
These homeowners do realize that copper can be quite challenging to keep shiny & burnished, right?
They will leave it to their housekeeper to figure out. Whoever that will be, I hope she or he charges them $$ for the service.
Maybe they are going for the verde gris look🙄
I sure hope you’re being adequately compensated for your incredible diplomacy and tact, as well as your impressive professional skills.
Could you use the pretty accent tile in the shower?
With that marbling effect, it seems like only a solid color would work. Perhaps a really deep green, since the patina will have hints of soft green? That might work with the cabinets too.
This one will be much easier to tie into the rest of the contemporary scheme ( But I still think modern = white). This tub that the wife likes calls for a black and white with copper accents. I lifted this photo off Pinterest so my apologies to the owner (can’t link to Pinterest- boo). Shows one way of how copper can be incorporated into tiled designs.
I think she would love the copper metal edging and inset. Thanks for the tip. Trouble is, all these things need to show up in 3 weeks or schedule goes out the window
Not fan of the tub either mostly because I’d worry about how I was supposed to get in it and (worse) get back out. Don’t even think about cleaning it. Especially the copper. But perhaps it’s just for show.
I do like the dark green tile. And the copper inset in the shower tiling.
I’m more inclined though to worry less than most of you about re-sale value of certain things–if you like the tub and “have to have it” if you can afford it then quit worrying about the next guy who buys the place. He’ll either tear it out or turn it into a planter. Flooring can be tricky though–especially if it’s something hard to replace.
Here are some copper tiles you can probably get quickly.
