Hi, I’m a new member. I’m a senior in high school graduating in June. I hope someone can help me out here (Hopefully I didn’t post this in the wrong section).

Basically, I was denied from my first choice school (UMass Boston), but they sent me a “Reactivation Form” and a “Future Student Contract”, stating that I needed to complete 12 credits (4 courses) of college level liberal arts at a 2.5 GPA or higher. By doing so, I would gain admission into the school.

I declined the only other college I applied to (Framingham State, who has higher academic standards than UMass Boston and accepted me…), confident I would get into UMass Boston. I applied kind of late, by the time I got my rejection letter from UMass, the deposit deadline for Framingham had passed.

Anyways, I talked with my guidance counselor, who explained that I could attend another University/Community College for first semester, then transfer into UMass Boston for second semester (this was confirmed by an admissions counselor at UMass Boston).

The dilemma: All of the community colleges that I have looked into post first semester grades AFTER UMass Boston’s deadline (December 15th, 2012). For the community college I was considering, classes end on December 14th, and finals take place the 17th - the 20th. As I said, I’ve looked into other community colleges and all seem to end classes on or around the 14th, and finals extend until after UMass Boston’s deadline (the 15th).

I don’t understand why the deadline is so early, how is it possible for applicants to transfer mid semester? If I submit the Reactivation Form and Future Student Contract prior to the 15th, will I still be considered, despite my grades not being posted?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you to anyone who read this!
