I think a bunch of us got tripped up by Georgetown and Notre Dame yesterday, and many of the other games were real nailbiters. If some of my picks had gone the other way I would definitely be in the sub-basement right now…
It will be interesting to see our standings sort out after today’s games. Great day of b-ball yesterday, looking forward to more!

Darn. Siena is always a sentimental pick for me. But they made a game of it at the end. And the other 4-13 matchup went to the wire as well with Wisconsin finally winning over Wofford.

I can’t believe I only have one team left in the final four of my “loyalty” bracket: Wake Forest. Georgetown, Vanderbilt, and Richmond are kaput.

Ouch - it’s one thing to pick your favorite team to win one game - a whole 'nother thing to put them all in your final four!
I picked Temple and Siena to win today - for sentimental reasons. :(

Well, I guess we got that answered.

Whoa… is Nova about to get knocked out? They’re one of my four final teams. Not good.

These high seeds need to start playing like high seeds!

Well, the games that were played so far today had no impact my bracket standing, as the teams I predicted to win those games when I filled out my bracket had already lost in the first round (Again, dang you, Big Least!) Hoping for a comeback tonight and tomorrow. I already recommended to my family they go out shopping tomorrow at around 2:35 when my Terps tip off against Izzo and Mich St. Should be a nail-biting, great game!

As to what happened to all the high seeds this year? Simple answer: parity. There really is only 3 or 4 teams who are in a class by themselves this year, and can truly be called the best in College basketball. And in each of the Big conferences, there are only a couple of outstanding teams, some good team, and then some average teams. Makes it pretty easy when the best of the mid-majors gets to play the middle of the pack from the Big conferences in these early rounds. Not so much upsets as they are evidence the mid-majors are starting to field some really good teams that stay under the national media radar because their names aren’t as recognizable as one of the traditional power-houses in College hoops.

This can be a reeeeeaaly interesting year for the Tourny. With only 3 or 4 teams teally that much better than the rest, the rest of the field is WIDE open. Those 3 stumble (and stumbling is a Tourney tradition), and we may see some smaller college or not-so-easily-recognized program cutting down the nets in two weeks.

Gracious,m how I LOVE College Basketball!

I thought Kansas was one of the teams at the tippy top of the heap… Not looking that way right now.

Noooooooo!!!

I’m so happy for St. Mary’s, Butler and No. Iowa. !!

Settling in to see Wake.

Did you all hear that large “thump” sound about 7:00 tonight? That was the sound of about half of America’s brackets crashing and burning.

Including mine…

Told you so! ;)

Unfortunately, all this is doing is paving the way for Calipari and the Kentucky Pros.

Don’t worry MomofWildChild, knowing that coach, they’d have to vacate the title a few years from now anyway because of some scandal. And then he would move on to raise up then destroy some other basketball program.

No offense, Kentucky fans. It ain’t about you, it’s about your coach. Just calling it like I see it.

Totally agree. That’s my problem with Kentucky. They also had a dishonest program back in the early 70s when I was at IU. Calipari is a known quantity…

Kentucky’s overrated. Duke should be the favorite right now

I’m hoping for a Duke win. Kentucky looked really strong tonight though.

Bullet, #92, oh yeah . . .
My grandparents met at Butler, so I was going to continue to select Butler further in my entry QuantMech3–which didn’t make the tipoff deadline. On the other hand, I’m sure I would have had Kansas winning overall in that one, too.

I didn’t get to watch a single game today. WTH happened??? Worst. Bracket. Ever.

In my one bracket (nukat) I have Duke winning it all with Butler in the final four (beating Syracuse and Kansas St. on the way)

This will be an interesting race and finish!
