Go, Butler! Only because my bracket is busted and misery loves company.

I missed the WVA game - what was score?

69-56, West Virginia wins.

Watching Xavier/Kansas St - what a game. The problem with not having any allegiance to either team is that I don’t want either one of them to lose. It’s tough rooting for both.

Overtime!

Getting our money’s worth on the KState/Xavier game!

Xavier’s 3-pointer from way outside was AMAZING!!!

rodney - I had to turn it off with a little more than a minute left. D1, who was headed back to Syracuse today to meet H for the regionals got sick a couple of days ago, right about the time that I did, so neither one of us has been particularly perky lately. So watching the last minute was like pouring salt on a wound. Instead, I rented The Blind Side from Amazon/Tivo and go my sports fill for the night. The good news is that I will be meeting up with H and D1 in Ft. Lauderdale Sunday night, and driving down to Key West on Monday. At this point, I think I will root for any underdogs since my team is out.

That Cornell/Kentucky game just got over, so they still have to walk back to the car and get to the hotel. Then H is driving down to the 'Berg tomorrow to give a talk for the chemistry department. Will drive back to Syracuse Saturday for the last two games. I hope the Saturday games will be exciting for them.

Xavier played their hearts out. Kudos to both teams. If my two teams play games like that Friday and Saturday , I’ll be a puddle of pee.

AARGH - my bracket is totally busted now…all my teams are gone!

But then again RIT is one game away from making the Hockey Frozen Four - now that is REAL March Madness!

^
Good for RIT! They have a formidible opponent - my alma mater!

My bracket is 50/50. One of my worst years ever. Since I am all but out of it, I was really rooting for Northern Iowa. The thought of NIU and Butler in the final four made me giddy! They just ran out of steam.
Purdue gave Duke a good run and I am looking forward to the Kentucky/Duke game, assuming Duke puts away Baylor and Kentucky can handle WVA.

I think the powers that be really screwed up the Midwest bracket. What a mess that turned out to be!

I’ll root for Butler, but other than that I really don’t care. I think I’ll just root for the schools with the higher graduation rate.

Yeah, that was definitely my worst. But I guess to be fair, very few could see 14 Ohio over 3 Georgetown or 9 Northern Iowa eliminating the 1 seed in the whole tourney, Kansas.

My West bracket is my best with the only problem being that I had Syracuse beating Butler - silly Orange!

I think WVA can beat Kentucky, or maybe I’m just hoping…
GO VOLS.

An aside- My Vandy grad student daughter has a campus job at the Wellness Center which is in the student rec center building. I raised her to be a basketball fan. Well, the other day she ran into AJ Ogilvy, Vandy’s center, on the staircase. She said she totally geeked out. I asked her if he was huge. She said, “He’s enormous. And no one else looks quite like him.” (He’s a giant, white Australian with blond streaks in his hair) She said it added to the moment that she was carrying a huge stack of Condom Information brochures.

Butler to Final Four!!! Go Bulldogs!

Wow, go Butler!! Course I’m happy as I chose them to go to the final four in my nukat bracket!

And they will practically be on home turf in Indy. My neighborhood is full of IU and Purdue fans, but Btler will be supported by everyone.

MOWC,
How can you root for the Vols when you’ve become a Vandy fan since moving to Nashville??? You’re breaking my heart! My kids and I share the belief that nothing sucks like a big orange since I’m a UK grad and they are Vandy grads and both schools consider TN to be their most evil opponent!

Husband grew up in IN and went to school at Murray State. After Butler beat them, we have been cheering for Butler. Now, final four at “home” in Indiana. If they win, sounds like a new Hoosiers movie to me… The story of the coach alone is great. Played high school ball outside of Indianapolis, setting lots of records. Played for Depaw. After graduation was a volunteer high school assistant coach while he worked in marketing at Eli Lilly, then a volunteer Butler coach who very quickly became an assistant and then head coach. When he was interviewed after the game, I thought maybe he was a player who was injured and could not suit up. He has a baby face…

2VU- Unless TN is playing Vandy, I’ll root for them because they are my home state’s school. I have despised Kentucky since my IU days in the 70s, so anyone that is playing KY gets my support! Right now it’s GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!

I’m wondering the same thing about D1 who is at the WVU v. Kentucky game right now, and is a Syracuse alum. She is rooting for WVU and is beside herself in doing so, but it’s a Big East team, and she’s being loyal to the Big East. I kind of hate to see WVU being rewarded for such poor sportsmanship earlier in the year; I just hope the behavior of the students has improved. I’ll have to ask her how they were when I talk to her later tonight.

Don’t worry about poor sportsmanship. Kentucky has the lock on THAT- along with the majority of their fans. I truly have never seen anything like it. Our Vandy tickets are in the middle of visiting fans, and I can tell you that absolutely NOTHING compares to the obnoxiousness and nastiness of the Kentucky fans. They also took over our city for SEC tournament, but the good thing was they spent about $12M!!!
