Filet mignon and artichokes for dinner tonight . And the ultimate happy pill…chocolate dipped strawberries!
We have never received a call of such a nature. DS does not believe we have any skill that may be of use to him, Because we became a couple relatively easily early in college, he thinks we just had a dumb luck rather than had any insight about how to go about it.
More than a year ago, he did call us to ask what gifts to buy in his previous short-lived relationship though.
Hopefully, he remembers today is VD. If not, he would likely be in a big trouble. But we think it is not our job to remind him of this. We do not plan to call him this weekend because he must be busy because of Valentine Day.
Wonder whether most restaurants in the snowy area are closed today because it is not easy for anybody to go out and celebrate VD when the weather is so bad in the north east. Do people, especially young couple, go out to celebrate the VD? We do not (but we are not that young.) We plan to get started on a boring task: preparing our tax return.
I’m happy that I could stay home all day and do nothing.
I’m happy I haven’t lost power.
Same here Very Happy…I read the local newspaper online and they are reporting a lot of outages in my county
Happy for Sunday morning and BACON!!!
Have had two power outages in past 48 hours–1.5 and 2.5 hours.
I am happy to report that my heat is now working correctly. We had a new furnace installed in November. When it is below 25 degrees outside, it just couldn’t keep up with the demand. With the cold snap we have been having, it was 18 degrees lower in the house than the thermostat was set for !
My husband sent the plumber ( pretty sure he graduated at the bottom of his plumbing class ) over to check it out…finally he figured out that the hose for the gas wasn’t big enough and installed a larger one. Now it’s warm and I’m not worried about my pipes freezing when the temps go to below zero again tonight
There is a flock of robins hanging around my house today – about 150 of them skimming the snow and perching in the bare frosted trees. I have no idea why – we don’t have a bird feeder – but I hope it’s a harbinger of spring!
I have been feeding the birds again, felt bad for them, and the other day my wife told me my arch nemesis (pictured in my avatar) had competition in the yard, we had two cardinals lol. Another early sign of spring is that Mrs and Mrs bird (what we call them, some species of small birds) have made their home in the nest behind the vent blower for our kitchen, as generations have for 20 years now…I expect soon to hear the cheeping of the babies, it is always a nice sight:).
On the other hand one of my heating units is taunting me, the blower on it (it is hot air forced furnace) is flaky, stops blowing suddenly then starts again, makes me worried in this cold will stop working entirely (the thing is firing fine), though if that happened I can always turn it on continuous, then yell for the gas company to repair it, once again. Soon as my son is out of school, the ‘contractor model’ goes out the window, and a high quality unit goes in.
