Hey all, I understand that Columbia students have to take two semesters worth of physical education. I looked over some of the courses offered at Columbia and I didn’t really find a PE course that interested me at the times I wanted to take them. Barnard, however, offered some neat courses at times that really fit into my schedule. Can I fulfill the PE requirement by taking physical education courses at Barnard? Thanks.

don’t think so. you have to have taken your first 2 at columbia in order to be able to take any at barnard.

ask your advisor. they’re not overly strict about such things.

Actually, you can. I know people who did dance at barnard.

According to <a href=“Columbia College Bulletin < Columbia College | Columbia University”>Columbia College Bulletin < Columbia College | Columbia University;

“No more than 4 points of physical education courses may be counted toward the degree. Barnard courses may be taken in satisfaction of this requirement; however, only students who have taken a Columbia physical education course and fulfilled the swimming requirement are eligible to register for these Barnard courses.”
