Hello everyone,

I was curious to know what current or accepted Stanford students think about my chances for undergraduate admissions to Stanford!

I transferred from community college to UCSD for political science with 3.2 GPA. I changed my major to astrophysics and went back to community college to finish my pre-requisites. My cumulative GPA including my political science classes from UCSD is around 2.9. However, the classes that affect my astrophysics major, create a 3.5+ GPA. I know Stanford looks at all of my classes so I am not too worried about the GPA. I am doing very well in my current pre-calculus and C++ class. I also need to take the SATs and I know my scores will be solid (I’ve been practicing quite a bit and I have 1 more year to study).

I am prior service, US Marines infantry, combat vet, etc. I’ve been an active participant with the science club both as an office and an active member. I also served as a Senator with our student government body.

My Marine buddy just graduated from Stanford in 2012. We both have similar e.c.s but his GPA was higher. He said our military experience will set us apart and he said if I do well on the SATs I would be a strong candidate.

Anyways, thanks for reading!
