Hello,
I’m a 23 year old CC Sophomore with the following stats:

Des Moines Community College - urban campus
48 credit hours
3.6 Cumulative GPA
Dean’s list 2 semesters and 4.0 President’s list last semester

I had one very bad semester where financial issues and naivety took hold and I received a B- in Creative Writing and C’s in Intro to Business and Intro to Computers. Intro to Computers was a total fluke and I’m now actually tutoring that class because of my computer proficiency. I don’t really have any EC’s unless working counts. I work at the school tutoring in Composition 1 and 2, Intro to Anatomy, Biology, and Chemistry, and also Intro to Computers. I’m very interested in joining something like FAIR for media reform and I love politics. I was hoping there may be a chance for me to transfer to Gtown or Berkeley if I can bring my GPA up a point or so in the next 12 credit hours. I’ve also heard that Gtown requires the SAT’s, which I haven’t taken. This could pose a problem because my mathematics skills are far behind college level, however my verbal and analytical reasoning skills are very good. Please let me know if you have any advice on how I can improve my chances to transfer to these schools in the next year or, if that’s an impossibility, recommend other schools I might enjoy for political science that would be more accepting of someone with my academic resume.

Thank you,

Derek
